Profile photo for Harriet Otis

When I was working I had my nails done all the time, especially as I got older and wanted to look more polished. It was part of looking professional. I was in a profession where I spoke to people all day and first impressions counted.

Now that I’m retired, I’ve let the nails go. I’m home pretty much all the time and don’t have an “image” to keep up. My nails are at risk doing what I do now: housework, cooking, jewelry-making, so they’re best left alone. At the moment they’re very short so I can grip my beads and findings better.

My husband always thought manicures were a waste of money, but he’s the kind of guy who just doesn’t get it. I’m sure he’s happier now.
