To break it down to a very simple level, the price is more than the hourly rate you might expect to earn in a more regular job to see for two reasons:
- The band has a lot of expensive equipment that must be bought, maintained and transported.
- The band isn’t able to perform for 40 hours a week.
The first is maybe obvious. Musical instruments, sound equipment, lighting equipment and everything else that’s required to put on a concert are expensive. Over time, they wear out and must be either maintained or replaced. They’re heavy and bulky, and need to be transported to and from venues.

If the band is a very busy one, they might play a couple of concerts in a week. There’s not much point doing more than that, because you only get big audiences on Friday and Saturday nights. That limits the earning potential of most bands to a few hours a week at best.
Even if a band isn’t expecting to make a lot of money by playing gigs, they’re still making a substantial commitment of their time and resources. They still have to practice for hours for each gig, and that time must also be reflected in their earnings on the night.
Being in a band playing for $600 a set in local clubs is no way to get rich!
It depends on how good the band is and where they play regularly. It also depends on where you need them to play.
How much have you got.
I know bands that will play for a bowl of chilli and a couple of beers.
On the other hand, I guess Taylor Swift might ask for a the thick end of a million dollars.
Have at least $500. Even the most desperate and needy of bands should get that much. That covers food and time and gas, and gives each member about $100 after.
That's cheap, a DJ with nothing more than an ipod and a mixing board will charge you.
Having been in a rock and roll band..

When it comes to hiring a good band, you'll have to decide on audiences prespective and not the employer.
Uno: Musical knowledge of the band members.
You wouldn't want a bunch of hobbos in 1st week to music school students playing in your club. Any band's musical knowledge can be tested on the basis of their dedication and respect to their art. Lead singers vocal ranges, musician's playing techniques, synch and understanding between band members are a few stuff to scribe down.

Secret to success of bands and that audience would go nuts for is their presentation. Their power and ability to compel audience using something mesmerising. This could be their interaction with audience, instruments playing techniques, vocals and so on.
At the end of the day you want your customers to be happy and audience expects good music. Hence, their presentation of music should be in such a way that it satisfies the audience. Or in a musicians language, “Touch their soul”.
Tre: Look for the grace
There are a gazillion of bands out there out which I have been asked not less than 200 times to give them a break somewhere but that's not possible in a particular manner which is lack of extraordinary quality.
Every band eventually does the same thing, but what's so different and unique in a particular band? What makes them stand out from the rest? Something unspeakable. You can feel it. But cant explain what makes you believe this band got the cojones to deliver different. That's your band.
Hope that helps!
Cheers !

I am unclear about what you are referring to. When I hired a band to play with me on stage, I paid for their talent and time. Typically paying the drummer more because his load in/load out time was appreciably more. I paid extra for rehearsals, but I don't think that's the norm.
Time and talent.
I would rather suggest to give a chance to students or folks in your locality who are finding some stage to perform on.
Believe me they will give their 10000% as it's for themselves too !!!!! And not just money that matters!!!. That's where your job of finding a descent and dedicated band comes in. Spread a word and see who are ready to do anything to perform at your place. Some hard working band w

Normally the going rate is like 50.00 per band mate plus expenses. If it's a well known band, better established they may have a set rate, like 500.00 non refundable per gig.
There are a lot of factors that go into hiring a band. Not all of these will appear all the time, but the following list is a good “ballpark” of expectations:
* Travel costs of getting to the venue, including but not limited to gas and hotel/lodging (often in the hundreds of dollars)
* Rider and/or food - whatever means through which you’re facilitating a workable performance from the band

* Noise policy/sound ordinance fees
* The actual performance from the band (enough to cover the cost of any overhead the band might have, as well as take-home pay for the band themselves [This is usually the bulk of the cost, typically hundreds or thousands of dollars - High quality musicians work hard to create a playable set, and musicianship is a ...
When booking bands for Scottish dance events in and around Edinburgh, I could expect to pay them…
Local gig Solo musician on off peak night 60–80 pounds, 100 if more than about 20 minutes drive to venue
Band on off peak-night 100 pounds a person for the evening
Friday/Saturday night. Add 50% and book well in advance.
That is with built up contacts, and co-ordinating set lists an appropriate degree in advance- days to weeks, depending on complexity. Without the contacts, add another 10% at least.
How much do bands cost to hire?
Literally anywhere from nothing (for neighborhood kids willing to play for the practice, exposure, and chance to meet girls) to a million dollars (for a big-name pop act with full stage show).
You are going to have to be more specific.
Band hiring rates vary widely based on factors like popularity, experience, event type, and location. Local bands may charge $200-$1,000+, while cover bands and tribute bands can range from $500 to $10,000+ per performance.
Wedding bands typically charge $1,000-$6,000+, and corporate events may cost $500-$5,000+. Concert and festival rates can be several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars.
