It’s hard to say whether it was “a significant rise or drop in quality”, but there are certainly a ton of bands whose level of success was significantly altered by changing producers.
For example:
Alice Cooper — David Briggs (“Easy Action”) to Bob Ezrin (“Love it To Death”)
Mott the Hoople — Guy Stevens (“Brain Capers) to David Bowie (“All the Young Dudes”)
Nirvana — from Jack Endino (“Bleach”) to Butch Vig (“Nevermind”)
Pink Floyd — self-produced (“Obscured by Clouds”) to adding Alan Parsons (“Dark Side of the Moon”)
Bruce Springsteen — Mike Appel (“The Wild, The Innocent, and the E Street Shuffle

Like me going to practise one day and saying to the guys, “I want to sing Magic by The Cars.” Right away the keyboard player was doing the keyboard parts and in no time we had the song. We were fast. As drummer, I used to sing some lead songs and give our vocalist a break. I liked singing. But it didn’t us long to learn a song. Working on harmonies usually took the longest.

The obvious answer is “someone who makes a living out of playing a musical instrument or singing.” Making money from it isn’t enough to qualify.
Depends on context - in the context of a school with more than one band, the advanced band would be the one with the better/more experienced players and the other band would be for beginners. If there were three bands, they might be labeled advanced, intermediate, and beginners.

It probably depends on where the musician lives and their personal preferences. The professional musicians I know in my area (Southwest Virginia) generally play in numerous bands. There were times when I played in two bands and played solo, duo, and trio shows with different people at the same time. Someone who is in a well known band, may be able to get by with only one musical project if that is what they prefer. There are well known touring artists who play in more than one band.
Absolutely Def Leppard started Hysteria with Jim Steinman then changed back to Mutt Lange who helped create a rock masterpiece took a while but results speak volumes over 7 million sales.

His M.O. once all the gear was set up, was to leave one mic hot center stage. From his sound board, eighty feet back, he would start pushing up sliders on the EQ., one by one. As soon as that freq. started feeding back, he’d drop it a number, then continue on. Until the board had a smile, or frown or a jagged line across its face. He was reading that hall, acousticlly. He’d have to make some adjustments when the hall filled.
My point is, each of those bands had it’s space to fill in any one room. Check for an app on your phone to help you dial in these frequencies and you’ll get the most out of your EQ. They can be fun!
As the name suggests, a backing band is a musical ensemble that backs up an artist or another band while performing live or in the studio. Most solo artists have one to play the accompanying music for them in the studio, as well on stage while touring. Some bands also use backup bands when performing live to enhance their sound.
So, you think you’ve drafted a tweet, an email, a short story, or even a novel. These are different forms of communication, but the process of bringing them to fruition has a necessary, sometimes overlooked step: editing! Unless you’re a professional writer, it’s unlikely that you have an editor who can review your writing regularly. Here are some tips to help you review your own work.

- Give your writing some space. Have you ever felt a mix of pure relief and joy when you’ve finished a draft of something? Don’t downplay that feeling and the ability to walk away from your work before you start editing it. You may need minutes, hours, or days, but once you sit back down with what you originally had on the page, you’ll have the thrill of looking at it with fresh eyes. You’ll notice errors you may not have seen the first time. You’ll come to new realizations about its overall tone and structure. If it’s a text or email, maybe you only need a few minutes away from it. If it’s a story or essay, perhaps you’ll need longer. Regardless of what type of work it is, it will help your writing tremendously.
- Don’t use overachieving synonyms. Looking at your work for the second, third, or fourth time around may inspire you to spice up your language with longer, more uncommon words. There’s nothing wrong with having a thesaurus nearby, but try to limit the repetition of long, pretentious-feeling words so your work flows well and doesn’t feel too bogged down. At the end of the day, you want it to feel true to you and the message you’re conveying.
- Remember who the reader is. Don’t forget your own voice as the writer—but don’t forget who your reader is. Many writers get too close to their work; editing is a chance to try to get out of your own head. Who is your ideal reader? What do you want them to take away from the writing? It’s a unique time to step in their shoes, to make sure your communication is as effective as you’d like it to be.
- Kill your darlings. Don’t be scared to remove chunks of your work, even if it feels precious to you. If it’s a passage that’s really tough to part with, try saving it somewhere else, so you can return to it later in your piece or for another work.
- Use Grammarly. Last but not least, Grammarly has countless resources for editing your work. Our writing assistant helps you find areas of your writing that are unclear or too wordy, as well as help you find mistakes you might not have caught.
Editing may feel tedious, but it’s just as important as writing itself. For an extra pair of editing eyes on everything you write, download the free Grammarly for Windows and Mac today.
I am not an expert, but I think most either bring their own or, have specs for what they require to be provided, in the contract.

Understandably there are duets, trios, quartets, quintets for ex. John Coltrane. Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson among others and all sort of player combination that are generically referred to as a band. This is also used when referred to as in a jazz band and classical music outfits. We could go on making additional descriptions or giving examples, but we believe that this brief explanation should give a general idea.
You are probably familiar with simple “tone” controls on cheaper equipment, usually “bass” and “treble”, but sometimes “bass”, “mid range”, and “treble”.
These controls form a simple “equalizer”, where adjusting the bass control increases or decreases the amount of bass, and the same for mids and treble.
The engineering of the circuitry determines exactly where in the frequency band any adjustment knob has its effect, but in simple two or three-band “tone controls”, usually each tone adjustment knob or slider covers roughly 1/3 of the range of audible sound, for example, say 20 - 650 Hz for “bas

The engineering of the circuitry determines exactly where in the frequency band any adjustment knob has its effect, but in simple two or three-band “tone controls”, usually each tone adjustment knob or slider covers roughly 1/3 of the range of audible sound, for example, say 20 - 650 Hz for “bass” adjustment, between 400 - 5 kHz for “mids”, and from 1.5 kHz to 20 kHz for “treble” (two-knob tone controls leave the mids at a fixed level). These ranges vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and if you notice an overlap between bands, this is by design to “flatten” the frequency response by allowing one frequency band to “roll off” as another “fades in”.
More than three bands merely means the the audible frequency spectrum (for humans) between 15 Hz (not audible, but still important for “presence”), and 20,000 Hz has had its tone filters divided up into more than three (and “narrower”) bands, each one targeting a narrower frequency range, providing tighter control over “anomalous” audio problems, such as a room that echoes certain frequencies “too much”, which is not the fault of the sound, but of the room acoustics itself.
With many bands of EQ at your disposal, you can fine-tune the output of your system to provide sound that is most pleasing to you, no matter what environment (excepting echoing spaces that have no damping).
Some problems a multiband EQ cannot help with are “phase” problems, usually related to how bass interacts with the room, and may require different speaker placement, or more sophisticated controls allowing phase balancing.
Band broadening is a phenomenon that reduces the efficiency of the separation being carried out –leading to poor resolution and chromatographic performance. This is problematical in terms of both the quality of the separation obtained and the accuracy with which sample components can be quantified.
Dream theater, they cover so much musical ground from gentle piano ballad to heavy metal, often within the same song, each musician in the band is outstanding and they have all been inducted into their instruments “hall of fame” so to speak
Quite simply, a professional musician is anyone who gets paid for performing music. It doesn't have to be a person's sole income source, and they do not need to even be particularly good at it to qualify.
If people are willing to pay to hear you perform, you are a professional musician.
A band, in music, is typically a group of musicians gathered for the common cause of creating and/or performing musician compositions.
There are certainly many different types of settings often contingent on the type or genre of music being played.
A “rock” band typically (but not exclusively) features a drummer, bass player, rhythm guitarist and vocalist. Optionally there may be a lead guitarist; a keyboard player (could be a pianist or organist); even horn players.

A “big” band would be focused on “jazz” but featured drums, bass, piano, 3–4 sax players; a couple trombonists; a couple trumpets. Optionally there could be guitar, French horn, percussion, electronic keyboards, even strings.
Concert bands are going to be the largest of the band configurations with multiple percussionists; a group of brass players (trombones, trumpets, and so on); and woodwinds (clarinets, saxophones, flutes); and so on.
Other genres of music have their own unique configurations of instruments and band members. You might spot a steel guitar in a “country” band. A banjo or mandolin in a “blue grass” band. A Hammond B3 organ in a “blues” or “reggae” band. And spandex uniforms in a late 80’s “hair metal” band.
There you have a rough definition of a musical band. And several examples of types of bands—with different body counts and instrumentation often tied to unique styles of music.
