I mailed (old time) my resume with the spirit of ‘never gonna happen’. A few weeks later I received a phone call from the CEO asking if I could attend a meeting with him that day. I was suspicious but, eager to get a job, so I went. For the most part, I just sat there listening but added to the technical side of the conversation at one point. After the meeting, I went my own way.

The next day, another call. I had gotten the job and could I start immediately? Wow, for me this was a bizarre way to get a job. Go to a meeting, no interview, and hired. Strange. I guess the moral is to take a chance and always speak up.
