These are some of the scariest photos I’ve seen. This includes both legitimate and edited photos; a photo is a photo!
1.
The “Pale Blue Dot” - Voyager 1
This image shows a “Pale Blue Dot” which was taken by Voyager 1 as it was about to leave our Solar System. That dot, as Carl Sagan puts it, is here, home and us.
See how insignificant that dot is compared to the vastness of the darkness of space! Eerie!
2.
Vietnamese Monk On Fire
This image shows a Vietnamese buddhist monk who had set himself on fire as a form of protest against the pro-Catholic government of Ngo Dinh Diem in South Vietnam against Vietnamese buddhists.
See how the monk remains in his meditation, completely stoical as his body is engulfed in flames!
3.
The Falling Man
This is a famous photo taken during 9/11 showing a man who is falling from the North Tower. He is believed to be an employee from the Windows on the World restaurant on the building’s 107th floor as judged from the jacket he is wearing.
This fact is made even more scary because there are conflicting beliefs between whether people jumped off the building or were forced out of the building.
4.
Cooper Family Photo
Despite being debunked by the Internet as fake and edited, this photo still sends shivers down my spine because of how well-edited it is. It is relieving to learn that the photo is doctored but the idea that there could be a falling body behind you still makes my skin crawl.
5.
The Remains from the Titanic
The Titanic was a famous cruiser that was dubbed “unsinkable” due to its compartment design that were able to keep the ship afloat so long as only five air tight compartments are flooded with water. On the fateful night of April 14, 1912, the Titanic collided with an iceberg and more than five compartments were filled.
The ship sank and took 1496 lives with it. In this image, we see the clothing of someone who sank with the Titanic. Officials believe that they still contain remains of the victims though some argue that the bodies of the victims are gone due to the water pressure.
Those are five photos that I think are some of the scariest in the world. There are so many more images which deserve to be considered some of the scariest too but, my answer would probably just keep going at that rate.
Anywho, I’ll add more if this answer proves to be interesting to readers!
I can assure you. Except for the Cooper Family photo, I don’t intend to cause people to have nightmares in their sleep. I know I don’t want to have nightmares writing this type of answers!
