I worked as a bartender in a restaurant and had a lot of regulars. One of my favorites was an older couple. They were extremely nice, a little odd, and liked things a specific way. They had been coming to this place for years and even if a recipe had changed or a product was switched out, if the old product was preferred we made sure to keep it on hand for them. They came in a couple times a week, every week, so it was worth it.

I got to know them as I didn’t mind making sure everything was just so for them and they loved that I always knew exactly what they wanted and made the time to talk to and get to know them.

At one point I was saving up for a trip to visit a friend overseas and was keeping all of the change from my shifts to use as spending money. Knowing this, they saved up any change they got during the week and would bring it in during my shift, make sure they sat in the bar and gave it to me on top of their normal tip. It was so sweet and kind that I have never forgotten them. This was over 10 years ago and I still remember them so clearly.
