In Croatia, government corruption is a serious problem. Take this minor issue for example: parking….poles? (not sure how you call them). Each pole cost our country about 120€. Fun fact: the manufacturer sells these poles for about 8€ a piece. If you include the price of work, documentation for the government etc. the profit margin is about 1000–1200%.

To the people (before we knew the price) this seemed like a good idea; there were a few poles planted to block cars from parking on the pavement etc.

But somebody wanted to get more money. So they started adding poles to places where there was already a sufficient number of them or where they were not needed.

Usually, the 2 poles should never be closer than 1.5m from each other (since no car can pass between), but now they started getting close to 0.8 meters :D

And they keep adding more poles to the same locations, because they ran out of new locations to plant them :D

There was a timelapse video where it starts with 5 but over the course of a year it ends with 25, but I can’t seem to find it right now x.x

We joke that the poles are an alien invasion force and they are growing in numbers. (Could totally see it as a Doctor Who episode :D)
