Quality writing is that, which does the job it`s meant to do.

In fiction, that would be to engage the audience, tell the story well and tell it clearly. In writing ad copy, on the other hand, you want to engage the audience and tell your story well and clearly, but you also want to convince your audience to buy whatever you’re trying to sell them.

Your job, therefore, is to determine what you want the writing to do, then determine what you need to do in order to accomplish that.

A lot of writing is about vulnerability.

When writing about a personal experience, you must make how you felt open to the reader. In some senses this is easy; however, no one would deny that expressing happiness is easier than expressing, say, jealousy.

When writing something fictional, you still have to make yourself vulnerable. But you do so through a character and the character’s feelings. You are again trying to make the reader relate with the character.

However, in order to make your writing intriguing, you must withhold just the right amount of information. You have to let the reader guess - just a little bit - so they can draw their own conclusions.

Whether those conclusions are correct or not is irrelevant; it is unlikely you will ever know.

But by withholding a small amount of information, the reader gets satisfaction from drawing their own conclusion and taking a certain amount of control.

Satisfy their curiosity, but leave them wanting more.

Essay writing services are a good way to destroy your life. I’m talking about the services that target writing papers for college students. There are educational and practical reasons this is an extremely bad idea.

Essay writing services are a good way to destroy your life. I’m talking about the services that target writing papers for college students. There are educational and practical reasons this is an extremely bad idea.

Let’s start with the practical. If you’re using a service for a graded assignment, there’s a decent change you’ll get caught and fail the assignment and maybe the course. Here’s how I find an essay hasn’t been written by a student. First, my course is a synthesis of many sources and viewpoints. If I don’t see similar approaches in a students’ essay, it either means they haven’t learned anything (therefore bad grade) or the essay isn’t theirs. Second, I submit all writing assignments to a plagiarism detection service. You’d be surprised how many purchased essays have been sold to multiple people and end up in the plagiarism service’s databases. Finally, most essay assignments are very specific. Often essay services use writers who know the general area, but don’t know the specific focus of the course. The resulting essays are glaringly not about the course and are not responsive to the assignment given.

Next, why do employers hire college graduates? Because they expect college graduates can do things that high school graduates cannot. Specifically, they expect them to be able to work their way through complex problems and to have facility with written documents. They want people who can integrate information from many sources. They expect college graduates can write clearly and to the point. They want them to isolate the important points in reports, manuals, and written evaluations.

Why are college graduates able to do these things? Because they’ve practiced! They’ve read hundreds of pages of often irrelevant text looking for those gems that illuminate a problem or help them make their point in a critical essay. Students are largely unaware of this at the time, but doing such assignments changes them; it refines how their minds work and how they organize their thinking and express themselves. If students skip the assignments, like essays, that give them practice in these things, they’ll leave college little different from a high school graduate. And the thing is, a good interviewer can find out in minutes if you’re able to do the things mentioned. You won’t get the right job and you won’t understand why you’re flipping hamburger. So do your own writing.

That’s what I read some time ago, by someone who wanted to claim being a voracious reader. Someone who has an insatiable hunger for reading. Voracious comes from the Latin vorare (to eat with great appetite), while vociferous is from the Latin vox (voice) and means to be vocally loud/strident.

This is what happens when people don’t know the etymology of a word. I was part of a discussion where people discussed a scene about a decapitated head. Nobody seemed to notice that a decapitated head does not exist. Decapitated body, yes. Severed head, yes. Decapitated head, nope. Decapitare, from Latin, means to remove the head (capus), or to behead. This is what happens when people don’t understand the root of a word and just look up synonyms in a thesaurus. Decapitate means behead. Write beheaded head and you know instantly that you screwed up.

Here is a list of the top savings accounts available today. Deposit $5 before moving on because this is one of the biggest mistakes and easiest ones to fix.

Overpaying on car insurance

You’ve heard it a million times before, but the average American family still overspends by $417/year on car insurance.

If you’ve been with the same insurer for years, chances are you are one of them.

Pull up Coverage.com, a free site that will compare prices for you, answer the questions on the page, and it will show you how much you could be saving.

That’s it. You’ll likely be saving a bunch of money. Here’s a link to give it a try.

Consistently being in debt

If you’ve got $10K+ in debt (credit cards…medical bills…anything really) you could use a debt relief program and potentially reduce by over 20%.

Here’s how to see if you qualify:

Head over to this Debt Relief comparison website here, then simply answer the questions to see if you qualify.

It’s as simple as that. You’ll likely end up paying less than you owed before and you could be debt free in as little as 2 years.

Missing out on free money to invest

It’s no secret that millionaires love investing, but for the rest of us, it can seem out of reach.

Times have changed. There are a number of investing platforms that will give you a bonus to open an account and get started. All you have to do is open the account and invest at least $25, and you could get up to $1000 in bonus.

Pretty sweet deal right? Here is a link to some of the best options.

Having bad credit

A low credit score can come back to bite you in so many ways in the future.

From that next rental application to getting approved for any type of loan or credit card, if you have a bad history with credit, the good news is you can fix it.

Head over to BankRate.com and answer a few questions to see if you qualify. It only takes a few minutes and could save you from a major upset down the line.

How to get started

Hope this helps! Here are the links to get started:

Have a separate savings account
Stop overpaying for car insurance
Finally get out of debt
Start investing with a free bonus

Then, I revise to eliminate unnecessary words and ensure a concise expression. Grammar and spelling get a thorough check too. Lastly, feedback from others helps me refine and improve, creating a final piece that's not just written but communicates effectively.

And nobody gave a shit.

Then I did everything a person can possibly do to destroy his life. Then I got depressed and sad and lost faith in life.

I started crying my heart out in writing. I started writing about my insecurities, problems and fears. I wrote all of it. Everything. I didn’t hold back anything.

And that added real value to people. They could relate to the experiences I wrote.

Document over creating new content.

I don’t know why people don’t realize how valuable their day to day experience is to other people.

Imagine someone writing their IIM interview rejection story or their experience with depression. Or heck about their struggle with daily laziness. I am definitely listening to all of this.

Document whatever small emotion you felt today. You missed your bus? Or liked the food you ate? Or had a quarrel with a sibling? Write about it.

People worry about looking stupid and the fear of judgement. I know countless people in my college who are gazillion times more insightful than me but they never create anything. Mostly out of fear of judgement and overthinking their material.

They write a stellar quora bio. Or search for expensive cameras on google with a amazing youtube channel name. And then quit the next day.

People sometimes message me complementing how beautifully I write. It’s amusing to me. All I do is construct simple sentences , taking care of reader fatigue and mix it with my day to day experiences.

If you look carefully, my sentence construction and vocabulary is comparable to a 6th standard school kid.

Yet I don’t know why people over complicate things when it comes to generating online content.

Trust me when I say this. Forget about quality or the cliches that you might have heard. Just start documenting whatever is happening to you on a daily basis.

Nobody cares about presentation after a point as long as you provide continuous value to people. Your genuine honest experiences will ensure that.

If you need help, see your instructors, your school’s library staff, or your school’s writing lab staff.

Apologies. I just invented that story to make a point. My objective was to get you wondering. I wanted you to have a question in your mind:

‘What is this secret that he’s reluctant to tell me about?’

Look at most great writers and they not only hold you by using great style, they also hold you by giving you questions.

We love questions. They tease us, annoy us, and frustrate us because we want that satisfying sense of completeness that comes with discovering the answer.

Many things can put questions in our mind, but one of the best is a good story. Stories pull us in, make us wonder, and help us learn. If we read about, say, the invention of the computer, we will understand it best if it comes in the form of a story. In my work as a therapist people want to create a story around a past trauma in order to really understand it. Only then can they fully break free.

We are story-making creatures, but to work best a story has to provoke interesting questions. So as you write, ask yourself:

‘What question is in my reader’s mind at the moment?’

If you think there isn’t one, or it’s not that interesting, find one that makes the reader so curious s/he becomes reluctant to stop reading.

Create curiosity in your reader’s mind and your writing will soar.

Good luck.

The reader can immediately do something with the content, whether it’s apply a tactic or strategy you outline, or even just think about a topic in a different way.

The content should guide the reader to a clear next step.

It’s interesting.

What this means, on a practical level, is that if you’re writing about a topic that’s not already super-interesting to the reader (your product, for example), you need to make it interesting to them.

You can do this by telling a compelling story, creating a beautiful visual, using lots of data to make a strong argument, etc…

Think of it like a gummy vitamin.

The vitamin in your content is what your reader needs, but you have to wrap it in something (a story, an infographic, something else) that your reader wants.

It’s unique.

This doesn’t mean that the topic has to be unique. On the contrary, if nobody has ever written about your topic before, there’s a good chance it’s just not relevant enough.

But what it means is that your content shouldn’t look like every other piece of content out there about that topic.

Google your topic and look at the first 20–30 results.

What do you see?

What kind of lenses are people writing about the topic through?

Is it mostly list posts?

“Ultimate guides?”

Infographics?

Videos?

Find a way to make your content different.

  • Don’t write to gain likes or upvotes. Quora isn’t designed to be a popularity contest and writing with agenda to have your content go viral will only come across as superficial and paper-thin at best. Perhaps the algorithm will pick up your answer and share it with more readers, but beyond this who would you be actually helping besides yourself? I’ve been guilty of trying to force engagement through silly or cliche content. But when my stats dropped or I wrote something without it getting a single upvote, I started seeing my motivation fade and questioned the purpose of writing on here at all.

I’ve been guilty of trying to force engagement through silly or cliche content. But when my stats dropped or I wrote something without it getting a single upvote, I started seeing my motivation fade and questioned the purpose of writing on here at all. Then I realized that’s not the point of Quora. Quora is designed to help people by sharing your knowledge. The more you’re able to focus on writing truly valuable and applicable knowledge that is unique to your experiences, then the rest (likes, upvotes, followers, etc) will naturally flow.
  • Write about topics that resonate with you on a deeper emotional or psychological level. When you write about what you care about, have experienced, or the things you’re genuinely interested in then your sincerity and unique voice will naturally echo across to the readers. You won’t have to think so hard about how to make your content compelling either.
  • Put yourself in the position of your readers. Write content that you’d gain value from if you were reading it yourself. Ask yourself why someone would want to read your answers and what they’d really stand to gain from doing so.
  • Pay attention to your grammar and be creative with your syntax. If you can’t afford to pay an editor or don’t know if your grammar is correct then you can always subscribe to tools like Grammarly.
  • Be authentic and don’t be scared to be vulnerable (it makes people connect with you more). Don’t strive for perfection or to write with beautiful, flowery language if that isn’t you. The best content and work finds its audience because the creator has used something of their heart and spirit to bring it to life and they’ve nourished their own voice through doing so.
  • Make it a discipline. Do your best to write daily, even if it’s just a “stream of consciousness” practice.
  • Read as much as possible and learn from popular answers. The best writers are avid readers. The more you’re able to read, you’ll soon gain awareness into how solid answers are crafted and the ingredients or find patterns you’ll be able to apply yourself.

I hope this helps! Happy trails!

Quora bots measure the quality of answers in a way that doesn’t always seem perfect to the intelligent user.

The best way of finding yourself higher in the rankings of answers, is to include a picture. For those of you who don’t know what a picture is, here is a picture.

The first picture you insert into your reply will be used as part of the thumbnail answer given in people’s answer threads, so if you make this one a picture of a naked woman (here is a picture of a naked woman)

… it can act as so-called click-bait and encourage people to click on your response to see if there are more, even better, pictures of naken women further down the response. The more people click on your answer, the better Quora thinks it is. There may even be a picture of several naked women together, perhaps like this:

If you are careful, you can get away with putting in carefully posed pictures of naked women that don’t actually show naked breasts or genitals, but people will keep reading, just in case later in the post you have thrown one in.

Even if you don’t go for naked women, you may find that you can have similar success with cute pictures of cats

or dogs

… as many people have pets of their own and find these images trigger outpourings of pleasant endorphins, which help produce happiness. More cute pics; more clicks; better answer.

As you can see, photographs serve a good puropse in encouraging readers to click on your reply, which, in turn, increases the likelihood of the longed-for “like”.

Some people will even include completely irrelavent images like this one

… and no-one really knows why.

The inclusion of text will also help raise your answer up the rankings, as Quora seems to think that answering the question “what is 10 minus 2” with “8” is not as good an aswer as:

First we need to define our integers here. You haven’t specified if your numbers are positive or negative so we are going to have to assume that you mean positive as you didn’t specifically include a minus sign. This is an assumption that has a good historical provenance through the centuries and so I think it can be followed here without fear of rebuff.

Secondly we need to ensure that neither of the numbers quoted have been rounded up or down. If the first were, say, 9.7 and the second 2.3 but both expressed to the nearest whole number, then the answer would actually be 7.4, which itself would round down to 7. Thus it might appear that 10 - 2 = 7.

Assuming, then, that rounding has not happened, we must then look at the base numbering system used. In base 10 the answer is clearly “2”, but in base 5 the answer would be 3, in base 3 the answer would be “1” and in base 12 the answer would be “A” .

Again, it is probably safe to assume that you are using base 10 as you have not specified the base, which usually is taken to mean the use of the most common base, namely base 10, so here your answer would be “8”.

This long-winded answer is seen as a fuller and more useful answer (and in many ways that can be accepted as true; nevertheless it’s probably not the answer the OP was looking for).

HOWEVER, many people do not have the ‘smarts’ to write that sort of answer so prefer to bring in extra text by use of an anecdote instead, maybe like this:

Great question!

It reminds me of when I was taking a maths class at college and this girl sat at the next desk to me started to get bored with class and, without thinking about what she was doing, found that she had started playing with herself through her shorts. One by one the rest of the class became aware of what she was doing, but the teacher had no idea as she couldn’t see under the desk. The teacher saw the absent look on the girl’s face and decided to confront her with a direct question. “Tania, she enquired (not her real name), what is 10 - 2?”. Startled, Tania’s right hand shot up, away from her lap, and she said “eh?” is such a way that the teacher thought she said “8”.

Still makes me smile to this day.

Both these techniques (adding pictures and adding extra text) will imrove your answer (according to the bots), whilst anyone simply replying “8” will have their answer collapsed due to not having properly answered the question. Just to remind you, the question was “what is 10 - 2?”.

So, to finally answer your question: it depends what you mean by “better”. If you mean “better”, as in most correct, then just answer the question. If you mean “better” as in an answer higher up the rankings then use pictures (preferably of naked women or cats) and/or lots of text.

My answer has all of the above. Let’s see how it does!

How can someone write high-quality, unique content on a consistent basis

There are two types of content writers out there who can write anything. They are those writers whose idea and ideas are so hard to come by, they create original pieces without having any resources for backing up their work. There are two types of content writers out there who can write anything. They are those writers whose idea and ideas are so hard to come by, they create original pieces without having any resources for backing up their work. That type of content writer comes in many forms. If you're looking for someone to take on a new project or job, he's probably not going to be that. He will be focused on one niche.

But there is a much greater advantage to being consistent and working with yourself. Writing is such a solitary job. What about reading and watching TV? Who has time to do that now? Are we really cut out to be bingeing Netflix every day?

I don't think we should limit ourselves to a single social media platform anymore. We should have at least 2-3 social media accounts. Maybe one for personal purposes and another for career planning. When I am feeling down, I can log onto Instagram. Just because social media is a tool doesn't mean you can't use it to its fullest potential. In fact, I'm talking here about using the tools people already use to gain exposure or grow. I just feel that it requires very little effort on your part.

All of that aside, I would recommend starting your blog and making it like this right after you finish writing the piece you wanted to have written. Blogging allows you to display the finished article directly on your website. This gives you access to feedback from other people who see what you wrote. And to gain traction once again, you need to publish a lot of material on your site. As long as you have your website set up correctly, it's pretty trivial to write new articles. Your only goal isn't to generate money, but to gain information and share knowledge. Posting regularly helps with a sense of community, especially when you're struggling with a project. To build community, you must be consistent. There's no excuse if you want to start writing consistently, especially if you're doing it as a hobby. Don't worry about putting hundreds of topics together. Find topics with commonalities, regardless of the length. Once you are comfortable with your chosen niche, you can write more in your own unique voice. And it doesn't hurt to throw in a few posts or two each week instead of posting multiple times a week. Then, once you feel comfortable and confident, keep pushing new stuff on your blog.

So how does this actually go down? Let's say you write about cooking, photography, traveling, gardening, and/or travel or history. Each one can be quite distinct. But I’m sure if you were to try to write about everything at once you wouldn't be as happy. Because, after all, you won’t be able to satisfy everyone! In order to write about a broad topic, you need information and examples. With a wide range of material to choose from, you will be covering a vast area in your writing. And, yes, the more you can expand your knowledge, the better you can improve your ability to write. Therefore, if you're trying to write about everything at once, you don’t want your work to stay stagnant. And if you are not writing about travel and gardening, why should you stay silent about sports, food, literature, politics, and general history? Keep writing about one specific topic, and then post a bit more on your blog each time you complete a big piece.

Now, suppose I've tried to write about traveling for some time, only to end up leaving that topic and return to the one I'd started from scratch. I might be able to come back to writing travel history in the near future, but maybe I won't even have a reason to bother to write about travel at all. My focus as of now is on historical events such as World War II or the Civil Rights Movement. However, when I plan things out in advance and sit down to begin writing, the world around me slowly becomes clearer. The details start to reveal themselves. And that makes writing in the present easier. And more importantly, it makes writing a lot easier for myself in the future too.

So let's be honest. If you want to take over the world as the author of 10 million words, it takes a hell of a lot more than that. But when you are ready to put in the hard work needed to pull it off, it's important that you find an example to apply that works for you. Use as much information as possible to help illustrate how you got to where you are. Be true to your craft and to your subject matter. Show your reader why you are an expert in what you're presenting. Do research before you decide to write. Research is crucial to getting the most out of your writing. Look for sources that are reliable and accurate. Have people who look like you, read similar pieces from others, and can discuss similar topics. Pay attention to grammar and punctuation. Try to write consistently, and try to figure out what it is you love best about writing. Go above and beyond anything else, when writing, make sure to avoid repeating yourself even if it's the same message.

And remember: your success is your journey. Don't stop. No writer is a master in one field forever. Remember, you are still changing, and growing. Focus on where you want to go and see where that brings you. Get good at the craft and make progress. Set yourself realistic deadlines, and learn not to beat yourself up. It's okay to fail when you're first starting out. Take a break. Take a breather. Give yourself permission to be frustrated. Not all progress will happen overnight. But if you want to succeed, write consistently and try to stick with it.

From experience, write posts that bring off your personality and posts that readers will want to read. It is unique in the fact that someone else hasn’t blogged about it before or makes sense for who you are. It is important to show you through your posts or else it doesn’t look like your blog post.

Well it helps when you write a very long post to insert pictures as time goes by to break up the text.

Your post make sense instead of feeling like it makes no sense

It helps if at times you create a blog series

Try to blog at the same time when you blog

Reading is both a creative learning strategy and sometimes can be a procrastination tool. I try to read in the genre I want to be writing to get myself in the mindset of what type of book I’d enjoy.

Addionally, I write in different genres. Poetry improves language, playwrighting improves dialogue and then I’ll fiddle with fiction to flex my creative mind or a raw person essay to get into the guts of emotion. Playing with genre will make you less self conscious. You don’t have to be a poet to write a little poetry!

That’s really only the basics, but you don’t necessarily need ‘quality’ writing.

Both, mostly practice.

Some writers, if you are lucky, have shared the writing they did as kids. In all cases, you can clearly see it’s weaker than the writing they now do professionally as adults. The sentences are weak, or the ideas are cliched (or so wild they are implausible), or there are grammar or spelling violations, or characters don’t act like real humans do because they simply don’t have enough experience yet with real humans, and most commonly, it’s not finished.

Look at novelists’ biographies or interviews and you will hear time after time after time them mentioning that their first novel attempt, or their second, or their seventeenth, was terrible, unpublishable, will never see the light of day.

Because they needed the practice to get better.

It seems obvious for almost every other skill, doesn’t it? Somehow this is never asked about accountants being born able to do GAAP accounting, or pianists being born able to play the piano, or nuclear operators somehow appearing with all the details about how a nuclear generator works in their little toddler minds.

Everybody had to learn.

The thing is, the reason our culture believes in “innate quality” for writers, singers, some athletes, and a few other categories, is that good writing is very multidimensional, and for anyone, there will be components of it that come easier than others. I heard it said as “For every writer, there’s one or two things you get for free, and you have to work on the rest.”

When you read the kids’/younger writing, you see that. Some kids and novice writers are already effortlessly using advanced vocabulary. Some have jokes and humour just flow out of them. Some capture vivid imagery, even if nothing ever actually happens in their writing. Some have wonderful characters that just never get around to a story. Some, though their characters are flat and terrible, already have gripping plot and pacing down (read The Eye of Argon The Eye of Argon - Wikipedia, a fantasy story written by a sixteen-year-old that is notorious in fantasy circles for how very very bad the sentences are — but what makes it special is that the plotting and pacing are surprisingly good). Some have this voice that compels you and makes the narrator come alive, even if the narrator is doing things no real human would ever do.

That is innate. But you still have to practice, practice a lot, to develop all the other skills. Including finishing.

I don’t know what is real improvement. We are as a people can not observe ourselves objectively. We all could understand the sharp differences from afar. So I don't know my trip about writing. But I can sincerely say that I love being on this trip. Writing is a passion for me so I don't really wanna make passages, articles, or pages…

I am passionate about my fingers touching the keyboard and the physical emergence of abstract things in my heart. Improving is a detail and I want to see the big picture.

The basics are these: (1) a full and impeccable command of grammar, syntax, spelling and vocabulary, (2) a willingness and ability to self-edit mercilessly, then edit some more, (3) a determination to fact-check everything, then re-check, (4) dazzling imagination based on endless curiosity about just about everything and (5) the willingness to apply all of the above, day after day, in creating the very best writing one can, acknowledging that this is hard work.

That’s just the basics.
