My favorite Czechoslovakian filmmakers are Vera Chytilova (Daisies has recently been resissued in the Criterion Collection) and Ivan Passer (screenwriter of Milos Forman's Loves of a Blonde , director of Intimate Lighting and, in his U.S. period, director of the underknown Cutter's Way, which is very Czechoslovakian in mood and texture.
