- Thank you very much Mr. Vijay Shejal (विजय शेजाळ) for asking to answer “How can you prove that India was the largest economy in the world during ancient time?”
- Do we know how the world economy performs?
- Number one ingredient of any economy is the power to influence: guess what, influence to whom? Rabbits, mosquitoes, lions, fish, birds; stones, ores, woods, all of the above, or none of the above …..? (are we talking about fishes doing barter with birds or snakes?)
- Yes you are right it is not all of the above but the human population. (We know the intense economic activity concentrated mostly in metros of the world; due to concentration of human population)
- Now the second most important ingredient of the economy is the means of survival and living hood of that human kind.
- Now compare the 75 % of the world's population scattered in more than 99% of earth's surface; which never belongs to a single entity like Indian subcontinent.
- Contrast it with the world’s 25% population living harmoniously in earth’s less than 1% area; which is called the Indian subcontinent.
- Now tell me how that world’s 25% population living happily in earth’s less than 1% area?
- By killing mercilessly their neighbours; or by scavenging earth's surface like hunter gatherers?
- If that was true then how the population has grown to the point of 25% of the world's population in such a violent barbarous community?
- Take an example;
- You are two siblings each of you have one friend.
- You have in your hands some delicious food while your friends have one gun and one sword with them.
- Now imagine, hypothetically if both of your friends decide to kill you and take the delicious food from you; how can they find that delicious food the next day?
- But if both of your friends decide to begging or stealing the food from you; how many days they can repeat that process from you; you can say, may be a few days or weeks at the most before you become…….
- Although both of the above scenarios are good to execute; will any of those has any seed of sustainability of that type of actions?
- So here comes the third important ingredient of economy; the intellectual property of producing and using the delicious food to keep fit and remain agile.
- If we explore the process of producing food; we come to know that most efficiently it could be produced from best farming practices to produce plant based articles to feed humans.
- Although the entire earth surface has some sort of plant life upon it; but the level of intellectual property is not developed equally, upon the planet earth; by their inhabitants.
- We can see the global figure of one outcome of that intellectual property, the arable land (which is capable to produce agricultural crops)
- World map of arable land, percentage by country (2006)
- From the above map we can understand that the largest concentration of the arable land belongs to the Indian subcontinent; which is the outcome of consistent development of intellectual property of the Indian population.
- Although we may be intimidated by the jargon of intellectual property; we can immediately understood it when we think the root cause of exploration ventures of the European and central Asian gangs of pirates towards India; for finding the output of that intellectual property; which is called the Indian spices.
- We may also be aware of fourth ingredient of economy; which deals with the safety and security of human life and their property.
- Here comes two things one is to protect one's body by clothes from vagaries of nature and another by the cultural practice of looting; known as pirate system of economy
- Here we can explore how that less than 1% of earth’s surface was known as Sone Ki Chidiya or the golden bird because of another outcome of Indian intellectual property called Wootz steel.
- Now just try to find a single spice developed in the modern world out of Indian subcontinent or one such compound metal which entire world craved for in entire history, valued more than Wootz steel.
- We should be aware of the fifth ingredient of economy; which otherwise would be at first place; if we could able to understood, the significance of it; in the absence of previous four.
- So that was the ecology; understanding of it by the humans was the mother of economic systems of the entire world.
- Now to understand it just go to any fables called in the name of Panchtantra; find a single incidence where entire story was about only human; how elaborately the education system intertwined with the ecology you can find easily.
- Now go to the famous stories of the outer world called Hatimtai or of Gilgamesh and find the traces of concerns of ecology; anywhere. Try to find, was it used as the positive or always as a negative force?
- Should we also not be aware of the sixth ingredient of economy; which was and is the most essential part of any flourishing economy?
- Guess what it would be?
- Yes you must know it; in name of systems of law and order.
- Again find any which fables called Betal Pachisi or Sinhasan Battisi which was there to create logic minded society to find causes and consequences of them. Now contrast them with Commandments of self-proclaimed f****r or g*d’s and search in your sane mind, how they may create longest sustainable society?
- So from point number 6, 7, 17, 18 and 19 in the first part and point number 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10 and 15 of part two of this answer; proves beyond any doubt; that India was the largest economy in the world; during ancient time.
- Numbers are there for healthy discussion in place of any kind of ranting.
