The Sea Squirt

My dad brought these little monstrositys home one day from the Korean market.

You know how people say “it tastes a lot better than it looks?” Sea Urchins come to mind when people say that. Ugly creatures but tastes absolutely wonderful.

Well Sea Squirts taste exactly what they look like. Anthony Bourdain once described its taste as the “asshole of the sea”.

It is almost always consumed in its raw form. You bite into it and the inside gushes with a flavor that tastes exactly like the ocean. I remember as a kid almost drowning in the ocean once and getting a huge mouthful of Venice Beach, CA ocean water and choking on it. That's what it felt and tastes like. The texture is also exactly what it looks like. Extra chewy, extra rubbery, and crunchy.. for some reason.
