“In Death Battle's Lobo vs Ghost Rider is everything said about Lobo true? Because if it is how in hell can Ghost Rider beat him? It seems like Lobo is invincible. Who *could* beat him?”
Lol. Never trust Death Battle. Never really trust anyone unless they have proof. However it was actually Ghost Rider they lied more about. They lied a lot about both, but Ghost Rider's was more blatant for any real fan. They mostly just left stuff out or simply ignored stuff about Lobo.
Here I'll list some things that they deceived you about:
- The Penance Stare not working on someone with no regrets is an Inconsistentcy
No. That is simply a lie. Even Johnny Blaze is immune to the Penance stare because he's not really the penitent type:
He simply doesn't have regrets or things to feel Penance for.
Thanos is more or less immune as well due to not regretting but enjoying what he's done:
This guy is more or less immune too because he isn't bothered by what he's done:
And this guy because he likes killing innocents:
Although never said it's heavily implied he doesn't regret anything he's done.
And even Captain Marvel recently powered through it because she is tired of feeling guilt and regret:
Oh and of course the Punisher:
Btw for anyone curious as to why it worked in this scan:
This Punisher was not only mentally different than the one with no regrets, but he was going psychotic:
Anyway, the point here is there is absolutely no way the Penance Stare would have affected Lobo severely. I explain this better here: Quora User's answer to Can the Penance Stare kill Lobo?
- If Johnny is knocked out, then Zarathos comes out.
This is actually somewhat true, but misleading. There are two main versions of Zarathos.
There is Ghost Rider Zarathos/the Spirit:
Which as shown in GHOST RIDER (2006) ISSUE #13 is Ghost Rider without Johnny in control. Usually due to them being separated or Johnny isnt able to take control.
Later in Damnation Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider we see them separated in hell:
And when Desperate Johnny will let the Spirit take control:
Ghost Rider (2006) #6 and #7
That's all Ghost Rider. This is all stuff Ghost Rider can do.
Then theres Zarathos in his True form:
GHOST RIDER (1990) #43 and GHOST RIDER/BLAZE: SPIRITS OF VENGEANCE #16
True Form Zarathos is not accessible to Ghost Rider, the spirit or Blaze, yet this is what Death Battle lead you to believe. For no reason should True Form Zarathos even be relevent to Ghost Rider's power. True Form Zarathos is a separate being to Ghost Rider.
In truth, the Spirit, Johnny, and Zarathos are more or less 3 different beings who at times are forced together to limit Ghost Rider's powers and weaken Zarathos. It however isn't always clear. It is however clear that the spirit taking over after Johnny is Incapacitated isn't the same as True Form Zarathos.
- Zarathos eats Souls.
Firstly once again that's True Form Zarathos.
Not Ghost Rider Zarathos/Spirit. He eats sins. Not souls. It's blatant in the scan they used to make it look like the spirit was eating a soul:
“Sin eater” not soul eater.
This is from Damnation Johnny Blaze Ghost Rider btw.
So Ghost Rider could not even eat souls. Let alone someones like Lobo's.
- World War Hulk couldn't finish him off and Lobo did not have a good way of killing Ghost Rider
Firstly, Ghost Rider drove away from World War Hulk. Hulk never even tried to “finish him off”
Where is it shown Hulk couldn't finish him off? Exactly. No where. You're lying Death Battle.
Secondly, Lobo could actually kill Ghost Rider by using himself against him.
Yeah that's how Punisher killed a Ghost Rider once:
Thunderbolts (2013) #29 and #32
Heck it's possible Lobo could kill Ghost Rider with his own rib:
The Ghost Rider is literally a danger to itself. Lobo could possibly beat it to death with it's own leg:
Similar to what a Devil avatar almost did once in Ghost Rider (2006) #6
Etc.
Ok now this is getting a little long and although there is so much more to cover, Death Battle as per usual is incredibly thorough at conning, I'm just going to mention three more things Death Battle blatantly left out.
- Lobo isn't just “Untouchable” by Death but by Gods, Goddesses, Devils, and Death.
Read the freaking scan Death Battle.
Here I'll show the full one and even note the comic:
Lobo's back #4
- Lobo likely doesn't even have or need a soul. He gave his to Neron long ago.
- Lobo is a freaking 4th wall breaker.
Seriously wtf Death Battle. You wank to Deadpool's 4th wall breaking which isn't even impressive tbh, but someone who was doing it before Deadpool and to a greater extent, doesn't even get his mentioned?
Lobo has been breaking the 4th wall since the 90s.
Lobo's Convention Special:
Lobo's Back #2:
Lobo Bounty Hunting for fun and profit:
LOBO (1993) #60:
Lobo Infanticide #4:
Etc
In conclusion: Death Battle not only wanked the hell out of Ghost Rider, but even Downplayed Lobo.
As for “It seems like Lobo is invincible. Who *could* beat him?”
Lobo is one of those characters who literally is a plot device. He is as powerful as the plot needs him to be. So anyone could beat him and no one can as well. He defies logic, physics, biology, fiction, etc.
However on average he is around Superman Level.
Also thought I should add, Remember this:
They mention Adam is helping the Alejandra Ghost Rider but downplay how much he is helping her. What she did is not something just any Ghost Rider can do without Adams help and Adam should not be helping Johnny Blaze against Lobo. Alejandra was undeniably a very amped up Ghost Rider.
Adam (from Adam and Eve) who was apparently the “Original Sin” amped up Alejandra more than once:
Ghost Rider (2011) #1
#2
And especially amped her up in #9 (the last comic of the series where she fought Mephisto):
(Note even the Spirit (Not Alejandra), mentioned Adam was enhancing it's power levels.)
That is the only reason she (or Ghost Rider) could really threaten Mephisto.
Without all that amped power, I doubt Ghost Rider could have done much.
And she was still defeated by a Hellfire bullet:
As shown in Dr. Strange Damnation #3: Mephisto could easily just lift the Ghost Rider curse if he wanted:
This was more or less Plot induced Stupidity:
Ghost Rider (2011) #9
