Overpaying on car insurance

You’ve heard it a million times before, but the average American family still overspends by $417/year on car insurance.

If you’ve been with the same insurer for years, chances are you are one of them.

Pull up Coverage.com, a free site that will compare prices for you, answer the questions on the page, and it will show you how much you could be saving.

That’s it. You’ll likely be saving a bunch of money. Here’s a link to give it a try.

Here’s how to see if you qualify:

Head over to this Debt Relief comparison website here, then simply answer the questions to see if you qualify.

It’s as simple as that. You’ll likely end up paying less than you owed before and you could be debt free in as little as 2 years.

Missing out on free money to invest

It’s no secret that millionaires love investing, but for the rest of us, it can seem out of reach.

Times have changed. There are a number of investing platforms that will give you a bonus to open an account and get started. All you have to do is open the account and invest at least $25, and you could get up to $1000 in bonus.

Pretty sweet deal right? Here is a link to some of the best options.

Having bad credit

There are other signs that Trump exhibits as well, such as his short attention span in briefings, his dislike of reading reports, and his difficulty pronouncing words. If Donald Trump had been my client, I would have referred him for further evaluation by a mental health professional based solely on his speech patterns and vocabulary. They have deteriorated significantly in the past 10 years or so.

I really do not like Trump as a person and hate his policies, but all that aside, it is pretty obvious to anyone who has ever worked in the mental health field that he really should have a thorough mental assessment. Many people who revile Trump may not realize that he is probably terrified and confused, because he likely realizes on some level that he is slipping mentally. Unfortunately, given Trump’s character flaws, he reacts by becoming increasingly belligerent, angry, and defensive. It is frightening and dangerous for the President of the US to have these problems. The most frightening part may be the refusal on the part of his party leaders and followers to acknowledge that he has a serious cognitive issue.

For example, because he is scheduled, prompted, and transported by staff, we do not see him routinely forgetting what activity he has on his agenda, where he must go and at what time he must be there, or how to get there. These are areas which often draw the attention of family members and friends when an individual begins to manifest dementia, along with changes in other functional domains.

1. Cancel Your Car Insurance

You might not even realize it, but your car insurance company is probably overcharging you. In fact, they’re kind of counting on you not noticing. Luckily, this problem is easy to fix.

Don’t waste your time browsing insurance sites for a better deal. A company called Insurify shows you all your options at once — people who do this save up to $996 per year.

If you tell them a bit about yourself and your vehicle, they’ll send you personalized quotes so you can compare them and find the best one for you.

Tired of overpaying for car insurance? It takes just five minutes to compare your options with Insurify and see how much you could save on car insurance.

2. Ask This Company to Get a Big Chunk of Your Debt Forgiven

A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.

If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.

On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.

3. You Can Become a Real Estate Investor for as Little as $10

Take a look at some of the world’s wealthiest people. What do they have in common? Many invest in large private real estate deals. And here’s the thing: There’s no reason you can’t, too — for as little as $10.

An investment called the Fundrise Flagship Fund lets you get started in the world of real estate by giving you access to a low-cost, diversified portfolio of private real estate. The best part? You don’t have to be the landlord. The Flagship Fund does all the heavy lifting.

With an initial investment as low as $10, your money will be invested in the Fund, which already owns more than $1 billion worth of real estate around the country, from apartment complexes to the thriving housing rental market to larger last-mile e-commerce logistics centers.

Want to invest more? Many investors choose to invest $1,000 or more. This is a Fund that can fit any type of investor’s needs. Once invested, you can track your performance from your phone and watch as properties are acquired, improved, and operated. As properties generate cash flow, you could earn money through quarterly dividend payments. And over time, you could earn money off the potential appreciation of the properties.

So if you want to get started in the world of real-estate investing, it takes just a few minutes to sign up and create an account with the Fundrise Flagship Fund.

This is a paid advertisement. Carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fundrise Real Estate Fund before investing. This and other information can be found in the Fund’s prospectus. Read them carefully before investing.

4. Earn Up to $50 this Month By Answering Survey Questions About the News — It’s Anonymous

The news is a heated subject these days. It’s hard not to have an opinion on it.

Good news: A website called YouGov will pay you up to $50 or more this month just to answer survey questions about politics, the economy, and other hot news topics.

Plus, it’s totally anonymous, so no one will judge you for that hot take.

When you take a quick survey (some are less than three minutes), you’ll earn points you can exchange for up to $50 in cash or gift cards to places like Walmart and Amazon. Plus, Penny Hoarder readers will get an extra 500 points for registering and another 1,000 points after completing their first survey.

It takes just a few minutes to sign up and take your first survey, and you’ll receive your points immediately.

5. Get Up to $300 Just for Setting Up Direct Deposit With This Account

If you bank at a traditional brick-and-mortar bank, your money probably isn’t growing much (c’mon, 0.40% is basically nothing).

But there’s good news: With SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC), you stand to gain up to a hefty 3.80% APY on savings when you set up a direct deposit or have $5,000 or more in Qualifying Deposits and 0.50% APY on checking balances — savings APY is 10 times more than the national average.

Right now, a direct deposit of at least $1K not only sets you up for higher returns but also brings you closer to earning up to a $300 welcome bonus (terms apply).

You can easily deposit checks via your phone’s camera, transfer funds, and get customer service via chat or phone call. There are no account fees, no monthly fees and no overdraft fees. And your money is FDIC insured (up to $3M of additional FDIC insurance through the SoFi Insured Deposit Program).

It’s quick and easy to open an account with SoFi Checking and Savings (member FDIC) and watch your money grow faster than ever.

5. Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company

If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape… but a website called AmONE wants to help.

If you owe your credit card companies $100,000 or less, AmONE will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.

The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmONE rates start at 6.40% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster.

It takes less than a minute and just 10 questions to see what loans you qualify for.

6. Lock In Affordable Term Life Insurance in Minutes.

With Best Money’s term life insurance marketplace, you can compare top-rated policies in minutes and find coverage that works for you. No long phone calls. No confusing paperwork. Just straightforward quotes, starting at just $7 a month, from trusted providers so you can make an informed decision.

Administration officials have scrambled in recent days to clean up the president’s remarks from his weekend rally in Oklahoma.

Billions? The U.S. population’s 330 million, you dumbass—did he mean trillions? Did he mean toasters? Who the fuck knows? His supporters, though, swoop in like, “No, no, he didn’t say billions, he meant millions of successes,” or some other batshit reinterpretation.

Then there’s the bleach fiasco—April 2020, when he mused, verbatim, “I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute… is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside?”

Clear as day, the idiot suggested injecting fucking bleach, yet the MAGA brigade screeched, “He didn’t say inject bleach, he was just brainstorming!” Bullshit. He said it.

Or how about when he didn’t say a damn thing coherent about policy—like his 2018 State Of The Union ramble on energy: “We’re gonna have clean coal, beautiful coal, the best coal, nobody does it better.”

What the hell does “beautiful clean coal” mean? His cultists leap in: “He meant sustainable energy innovation!” No, he fucking didn’t—he meant whatever gibberish his brain coughed up. The pattern’s undeniable: Trump spews nonsense—“I have the best words,” he once bragged, while proving he doesn’t—and his drooling fanbase spins it into gold.

They’ll say he didn’t mean “grab ‘em by the pussy” (he did), or he did mean “peaceful transition” when he riled up January 6th (he didn’t). It’s a cult defending their golden calf, bending over backwards to explain why “covfefe” was a secret stroke of brilliance.

Bottom line: The President of the United States shouldn’t need a goddamn decoder ring for every sentence. He’s an idiot, his words are a mess, and no amount of MAGA gymnastics changes that. If you can’t speak coherently, you shouldn’t lead shit.

End of story.

My guess would be that he has passively trained himself to communicate in this manner with the public as, for so many years, all his communication has been with our instant-gratification media and on The Apprentice and via Twitter. All three reward quippy, shallow partial sentences rather than fully-fleshed thoughts. I imagine his communication style is more mature when he is off the mic. He rambled around, skipped stuff, repeated stuff. He could not talk from notes! A Toastmaster or even someone who paid attention in Speech class during college could take notes and speak clearly from them. I wanted information and I was not getting any until his team took over.

There is nothing nutritious about him.

Also note that his word salads never contain any more than the approximately 5000 words in the English language which he still commands. The average 14-year-old has a firmer grasp on the language than does he; more than 10,000. Yet in 1950, that 14-year-old utilized 25,000 words to describe his world.

Trump has several repetitive phrases that he uses to the point of distraction. They are phrases that worked really well for him when he was in the business of promoting himself and his “greatness” and he isn’t going to change now.

“Nobody could believe…” “No one ever knew it could be (so great) (so difficult) (so whatever). “The greatest anyone had ever seen…” “People never thought it could be done…” “The greatest economy…” “People come up to me and say…” “The best president in history…” “No president ever accomplished so much…”

One of the funniest was “Most people didn’t know Abraham Lincoln was a Republican…” Translation: he didn’t know it. “Fredrick Douglass is doing a great job…” Translation: no, he isn’t, he’s been dead for more than 100 years. “No one knew health care could be so complicated…” Translation: he thought it was easy. “Tariff wars are easy to win…” Translation: no, they aren’t because both sides tend to dig in and refuse to settle. “I’ve got all the best words…” (about going to the Ivy League school, University of Pennsylvania, for his last two years of college). Translation: his vocabulary is very limited.

He seems to have learned not much at all at Penn. Reports say he ran home to New York almost every weekend, the better to be closer to daddy’s real estate business. Unbelievable is one of his favorite words, often coupled with “people couldn’t believe…” Everything in Trump world is unbelievably great, wonderful, beyond anyone’s imagination.

Trump is an ignorant man and he speaks that way, showing his ignorance all the time. For those who are in love with him, his short, aggressive way of speaking seems much better than the cautious way most politicians speak. They mistake his inability to form complex ideas for authenticity.

Trump is an expert at being himself, at the self promoting, constantly bragging “very stable genius” he sold himself as being for decades. He continues the sales job every day and he is, in the process, able to dominate the national media with his personality, the attacking tweets and his rambling speaking style. It works for him and he thinks it is brilliant in every way.

He is constant “big news” because he is so unpredictable and, otherwise, constantly attacking everyone in sight. He stirs controversy minute by minute and, for the major news media, this is like catnip. They play into his hands every day giving him news space and airtime that no other president, ever, has commanded outside of wartime (and probably beyond that, too). By allowing Trump to dominate coverage of Trump, they hand enormous power to him. More than anything, he wants to set the narrative of his presidency and our times and, the news media can’t help themselves, they let him do it.

If Trump were a building, he would be all facade and no floors or rooms inside the building. He is 98% show and 2% qualified to be president. Those who think they love him, and still have open minds, are going to have their hearts broken when they finally have to face the truth. He is a phony through and through, top to bottom, front to back. (In broadcasting, where I have worked most of my life, I have known many phonies, people who put on a big show but, underneath, have fragile egos built on falsehoods. I have never met anyone in Trump’s league of ego-driven, self-praise spouting phoniness.)

The way he speaks indicates a kind of rambling confusion that is not without practice and evolved successfully in the field where he used to operate. (His encounters in real estate were usually much shorter and purely transactional, an enormous number of his “great” real estate deals ended up in piles of lawsuits, more than 5,000 by some counts.) It also reflects the deep disorganization and distortion field of his mind.

We are in serious danger every moment he remains in the presidency, particularly because those in his own party have chosen not to challenge him out in the open and try to bring him down to earth. Had the Republicans possessed the integrity and personal courage to insist that Trump settle down, he might have been modestly successful as president but he and they chose otherwise, to try to ride the wave and risk what might happen. They were cowards in the face of a clear national emergency. We were dragged along, like it or not.

Trump is trapped in a carefully constructed asylum of his own making and he will not relent. This is sad all around but most particularly for our nation and the world beyond.

Someone added in a comment “Believe me…” as being one of Trump’s repetitive phrases. Indeed. I didn’t think of that when writing my longer comment. It seems like Trump uses “believe me” like a crutch: when he knows people should not believe him, he throws in “believe me”.

The Washington Post reported the following was contained in Trump’s 1987 book, The Art of the Deal:

“In many ways, his 1987 “Art of the Deal” was a manifesto for yuppie politics—or what we today might call Trumpism. “I play to people’s fantasies,” the developer wrote. “People may not always think big themselves, but they can still get very excited by those who do. That’s why a little hyperbole never hurts. People want to believe that something is the biggest and the greatest and the most spectacular.””**

These are the very same methods he has brought to the presidency. Those who saw him as some sort of hero businessperson when he was pretending to be one on television and who liked his raw appeals against immigration and on other matters accepted the PR and, apparently, haven’t looked back. Like a master salesman he was, Trump today is always selling, always preaching about how right he is and how wrong everyone else is. Not much has changed except the platform he uses now.

**What he could have said is that the news media has no reliable means of countering such bragging, even when it is a bold-faced lie. They report what he said but stories correcting the record, if they are run at all, come out days, weeks or months later and receive far less attention.

If you watch a documentary about Trump's life on Netflix called “Trump: An American Dream,” and do some basic research on him, it is easy to draw a broad conclusion that Trump is, simply put, not smart.

He was born into a very wealthy family with pretty much everything and more than what an average person could ask for. Throughout his life, he has had everything done for, or given to him. He inherited all his wealth and money and at times, put it to use to start his own companies (which failed disastrously because of his pathetic business management skills). His dad paid his way through school, and Trump never had to go out of his way to work for or learn anything. Consequently, because of their wealth, his parents never felt the need to challenge Donald Trump in any way.

Because of that, he never really had to interact with people and communities that are completely different from those in which he grew up. He was never intellectually challenged, and has lived his whole life in a bubble.

That is why he talks and constructs sentences like a first grader, because he is simply not smart. And frankly, I do not blame him for not being smart. Unlike most of the rest of us who have to work hard to get at least somewhere, Trump never had to challenge himself, intellectually or otherwise, and work hard towards anything. When you keep this in mind, a lot of things about his behavior start to make sense. All his life, he has automatically gotten what he wanted so he is not used to other people challenging him or his claims. So now, for the first time, when he is not getting what he wants, he throws tantrums to persuade others to think that he is right. It seems like he never grew up, intellectually, past the age of 5.

EDIT (2/17/2025): Wow! I wrote this answer 5 years ago during the height of Shitshow 1.0 and I’m flattered that you all find it true even today at the start of Shitshow 2.0. I keep thinking to myself, how the hell did we get back here? Looks like the MAGA cult will be here with us for a long time to come, even after Trump finally gets out of our lives. We are gonna need to stay sane while also resisting Trump and Musk with everything we have in us. To all those looking at the state of our country and ripping their hair out, I feel you. Personally, I’ve never felt so ashamed to be an American. Please make sure you rest well, take extra care of yourselves and your loved ones, and limit consumption of news and social media when the MAGA cult gets a little too much. We will need to do that in order to show up for one another and our democracy.

To all the Trump supporters reading this and getting your wittwe feewings hurt, GOOD! You deserve every bit of insult, isolation, and the contempt you receive from the rest of the world. Don’t even bother sliding in the comments section with your “Trump is smart because he got elected twice” bullshit that you KNOW is false. Him getting elected twice doesn’t make him smart, it just makes his supporters some of the stupidest fucking top-of-the-lungs-hateful gun-toting heads-up-their-asses-delusional pig-ignorant knuckle-dragging woman-hating cousin-fucking moronic subhumans on the planet. And don’t you dare attack the pronouns in my display name because I will block, mute, and report you. I’m no longer the tolerant liberal. I’m the fuck-off-and-die-you-racist-motherfucker liberal, and I have zero tolerance for you lot anymore. I truly wish you the very worst. You treat me like I’m the enemy? Now I will start acting like one. I hope you enjoy the inflation from the tariffs, restaurant closures after all the migrants are deported, the salmonella in your thanksgiving turkey after Trump defunds the FDA, and all the polio and measles outbreaks after Trump and RFK Jr. gut vaccination programs. Looks like that’s what we will need in order to reduce the number of stupid motherfuckers in this country. I no longer care what happens to you anymore, as long as you stay the fuck away from me.

The moment I heard him say “I have the best words”, all I could think was: Oh, the irony.

In the middle of making his claim, Trump, as usual, revealed his deficit. What he meant was that he has a big vocabulary. I can only suppose that the word vocabulary is not part of his lexicon, thus his resorting to “best words.”

Now, it’s good to remember given the turn of events the context in which Trump made his inane claim — in the midst of speech at a campaign rally while scolding the Democrats about Syria and what a mess they, by being “stupid”, had made of it. I suggest that if Trump does not bring

Well, most of them are actually words.

It is the way that they are put together that is alarming.

There doesn’t seem to be anything like structure to his speech when he speaks off the cuff. He rambles, he burbles, he says things that seem like they might mean something or they might not. He says that things happened when they didn’t. He insinuates and says that he doesn’t know, it’s just something he heard.

And he keeps on bringing the conversation back to his favourite topic: himself.

I call it GTTP vocabulary. Get to the Point.

The reason why his vocabulary style is so basic is because it appeals to people who are real life tl;dr comments. Trump, being the orange orangutan he is, doesn't use proper formal vocabulary and instead goes straight from the beginning of his point, skipping all of the basic needs to establish and support his original point and moves on to explain the effects of his point.

Lets examine a tweet

States his point

He begins the tweet by stating that CNN is doing polls again but is annoyed because their election polls were inaccurate.

Backing up his point

He says that they were way off. Thats it. No more evidence to back up his original point.

The effect

This tweet is special because you can see a common word he likes to use. Disaster. He must like using a word that really does explain how well his Trumpcare plan went.

Overall, people will believe almost anything this guy says because uses a lot of emotive words like disaster or imploding as it really does spark some sort of effect. All it really takes is a little research and time and you can find out that this man tends to speak a lot of BS without giving any support to his statements AKA wiretapping.

George Takei can also summarise his sentence structure for me.

I think differently. I don’t have any evidence but I discussed this with a psychologist/speech specialist some time ago.

If you’ve seen Trump’s interviews with Oprah from the 80s,

you will see that he was saying the same things that he says today but he was able to complete sentences and he was more focused while answering questions, making him seem eloquent.

Today, he can’t finish sentences; can’t stick to a topic; uses far simpler language; repeats himself a lot; contradicts himself in the same sentence, etc. He is only 70, which is old but not geriatric. So I

So I believe there is mental degeneration and something medically wrong. His medical certificate during the elections was clearly self written. No doctor would call results of all medical tests “positive”, which would mean that he HAS all the diseases for which he was tested. So he is hiding something very serious, just like he is hiding his taxes.

Addendum:

I saw this expert opinion on television. Dr. Bandy Lee is a psychiatrist at Yale University. She presents the assessment from 27 psychiatrists with support from 4,000 other psychiatrists who feel it is their duty to speak out in the public interest. Psychiatrists don’t give professional opinions till they have personally examined someone but Trump has been observable over years so psychiatrists feel confident of their diagnosis and in feel that silence is more harmful than providing a public opinion of their diagnosis. This is related to his declining ability to form cogent arguments, speak clearly, and use a more-than-simplistic vocabulary.

When Trump grows folksy in his speeches, he bears a resemblance to the Borscht Belt comedians of the 50s and 60s, who would deliver patter, punctuated with one-liners, in comedy reviews at Catskill Mountain resorts. Unlike your successful comedian, Trump, being a very stable genius, doesn’t need to prepare his lines in advance. The truth is whatever dribbles off his tongue.

Alas, if only we could neutralize Trump’s magnetic appeal by tossing water on it, or by injecting him with bleach.

No, he is stupid - stupid but cunning (in the business/legal environment he grew up in).

He learned to lie and to be deceitful from his father Fred.

So if he has to pay someone his immediate tactic is to delay and hope that he can pay less or even not at all if his contractor gives up or goes out of business.

It doesn't worry him if one of his businesses goes bankrupt as long as he was able to extract cash from it first.

It is hard to tell whether his disjointed stumbling manner of speaking is because of stupidity, lack of education or simply tripping up over the lies he has told.

Is he OK ? No, he definitely isn't OK. You can't trust anything he says, and he will go on telling more and more convoluted and implausible lies to his dying day, in my opinion.

Some people say he is in the early stages of Alzheimer's or some other disease that is impacting his mental capacity.

That may well be true, but it cannot be the full story. It doesn't account for the outrageous lies he tells, his ridiculous claims (a complete healthcare plan within the next two weeks, for example) or his willingness to ignore the Constitution in his bid to regain and then remain in power.

One thing is or should be clear. He is extremely dangerous and shouldn't be allowed near the Presidency or any other public office.

Look at over the years how so-called preachers have swindled people out of tons of money by being persuasive, telling people what they want to hear, making promises they can’t possibly keep, etc. Trump would have made a great swindler.
