YouTube is being greedy. Or, Youtubers/ Content Creators only care about the views. They don’t try hard, they don’t put in effort, they upload videos at the right time, and all they care about is money and views. That's my biggest problem with YouTube.

a few days ago, a Youtuber kind of spoke out about YouTube in general. his name is Ryan higa aka nigahiga.

If you seen his Expectation vs Reality, or How to videos then you know who he is. He is actually my favorite youtuber, and the best way to describe him is that he is the Keanu Reeves of YouTube. He is honestly hilarious. There’s a video where Nigahiga and another youtuber named Dtrix go in a contest about the best joke ever. So they just make puns, and its acutally hilarious.

You get what I am saying. But anyway, Ryan higa made a video about why he hasn’t been posting.

In the video, Ryan higa admitted that he was not feeling well posting videos and has been pessimistic because he was frustrated with how youtube works.

He explained that in the past, YouTube would give money to other people if their video had good content. The better the content of the video was, the more youtube would promote it. That fit with Ryan Higa’s idea of always wanting to improve; it doesn’t matter that you fail, but when you don’t try the next time that is what matters. The more views a youtube video has, the more money you can make.

But now, YouTube algorithm/formula changed, if the video was long and had people watch the whole video through, that's when YouTube honestly changed. And it hit me because Ryan higa was right. Ryan Higa wanted to focus on quality not quantity.

Ryan Higa tried really hard to fight against the formula, but he succumbed and sometimes (not often) Ryan Higa would make videos based on recent trends or popular topics just to get views, which he feels guilty. There were some videos that ryan Higa did not like, not just because it wasn’t funny but it didn’t feel authentic or from the heart. Ryan higa thought that the only reason why his youtube videos would get a lot of views was because it was relating to a popular topic, NOT on how good that was.

I think that's the big fundamental flaw of YouTube honestly, and Ryan higa put up very good points. YouTube only cares about how long your video makes, and the uploader gets money. Fair and simple. They don’t care about the content or how good the script or the video was.

It honestly warms my heart to see Ryan Higa standing up and pointing out his frustrations with YouTube, as well as him not losing sight of himself. Ryan Higa could have been egotistical and arrogant with his views, but he is still very humble and a nice human.

Ryan took a break from YouTube to reflect because he realized that he was not happy with YouTube. He felt that Youtubers and content creators only care about money and views, they don’t put in blood and sweat in their videos. As long as they have the money, they don't need to try hard to make their videos genuinely good.

Like I said, Nigahiga/Ryan higa is literally the Keanu Reeves of youtube, and he is one of the few individuals on YouTube to put up good content.
