I break your question into 2 parts :

“The How is it- part” - I always wanted to be a digital marketing professional. Although I had basic knowledge of Digital marketing,

It all began when I attended a Digital Marketing workshop held at Manipal University (since I was a student there). The 1 day workshop was very interesting and I wanted to explore more about it and gain expertise in this area. I looked for many courses online and I found that there were top 3 course providers at the time :

  1. Manipal ProLearn
  2. Simplilearn
  3. Upgrad

I won’t say one was better than the other. I found that, all of them had an unique offering. While Manipal ProLearn offers you online+offline mode of learning, which makes the learning all the more interactive and engaging. You can clear your doubts then and there. But, this service was available to only people available at Bangalore and Urban cities. Since I lived in Udupi district, 400+ Kms away from Bangalore, this was something that was not really exciting to me.

So, I checked Simplilearn and found that they offer specialisation certification course on various parts of digital marketing. They charge you based on what you want to specialize in. However, this is not something I wanted to pursue, as it does not offer a wholesome knowledge for a beginner level.

So then I enrolled for a Free course on Coursera. But you know, like the rest of the 87% of the people who sign up but fail to finish, I was not able to complete the course.

Then, I heard about Upgrad and checked their offering. I found 3 aspects very appealing ( I can challenge you on this front)

a) ‘Student Buddy’ concept : This is a not a new concept, but they, have managed to pull the show very well. Buddy usually a person who is assigned to a student, makes sure that the student understands the concept and is able to finish the submission on time.

b) 15 Unique case study based modules : The course is designed in such a way that you don’t learn just theory and puff ! They have tied up with lots of startups and companies and have partnered with them and have carefully studied how they were able to leverage digital marketing concepts in pulling off many successful campaigns. For example Zivame, Bajaj, Momoe etc;

c) Placement opportunity post course completion : This is the icing on the cake and it can’t get better. When you have the zeal to learn and passion to explore, Upgrad team is right behind you to get you placed. I have received many job offers starting from 9 LPA to 15 LPA depending on the company/role and location. I have seen many of my peer mates transitioning into digital marketing roles and excelling.

“The worth it- part” :

At the end of the day, it is an absolutely delighting experience.

Many of the people who see this as an expensive course ( around INR 75000/-), I suggest you to rethink, because, the money that you spend here, is not an expense rather an investment, that will pay you large dividends in time. If you don’t believe me, you can try it out for yourself.
