My biggest financial regret would be booking an under construction flat with Unitech at the Unihomes 2 project in Chennai.

Way back in 2013, unguided and wanting to book a flat within my budget, found this property. The location was good, near to my office at Padur with ample open areas and pretty much well connected with local train services.

The project was approved by some of the leading banks. Sold my wife's jewels to pay the advance, borrowed some money from my sister as a loan and further took a loan from HDFC. It was documented that the constructed flat would be delivered by December 2016.

With all payments on track from my end and having paid 85% of the cost of the flat, today, the unitech directors are in prison, I still don't have my flat as of date today, I continue to pay my interest to the bank as per the tripartite agreement which stipulates that I need to pay the bank even if the builder defaults. I filed an affidavit with the court asking for a refund of my money with no progress either from the court or the builder…..I guess this will be the worst financial decision of my life for which I guess I will pay for the next 20 years as I continue to remain in a rented place….
