How about Rohtang Pass and Manali-Leh Highway?

It is an absolutely stunning ascend into the most amazing scenery on earth.

Rohtang Pass is closed half a year and each season road crews use GPS to find the road and dig it out again. Massive deadly landslides continue, giving the pass its name which translates to ground of corpses .

Waiting for yet another landslide to be cleared as I was passing through. Landslides on this unstable ground are common, and often deadly. Within 10 days prior to my passage and within 10 days after my passage, more landslides killed more people.

That is not water down there...

Unlike a lot of other spectacular roads, this one is not full of daytrippin' tourists. For the most part, you have this all to yourself, only occasionally passing a cargo truck.
