I went to a nice French restaurant with a few friends. The place was very highly rated and the cheapest dishes started around $35. I saw a dish that sounded amazing on the menu- mussels in a garlic basil sauce. I’ve had a similar dish at am Italian restaurant which was one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten. I’ve also watch videos of French chefs making that dish. Of course it was going to be delicious!
What arrived was a tiny bowl of mussels in a coconut lime broth. If there was any garlic or basil in it, it wasn’t tastable. On the side was a paper bag of soggy, oily, unseasoned fries- sorry, pommes frites.
It was so bad that I couldn’t even eat half of it.
