It may not be adventurous but it was memorable. My husband and I met in high school. On our first date we decided to “go parking” down a back road at the lake. After kissing, fondling, etc. for a while we realized it was getting late and I had a curfew. Well, my husband drove an old Rambler station wagon and had just gotten his license. Turns out when he had pulled off the dirt road to be more secluded he drove right into some of that deep Florida sand. We were stuck! He tried and tried to “unstick” the car by pulling forward and back quickly, the car was a standard stick-shift. We sunk deeper. We looked around for something to stick under the wheels to get traction. Eureka! An old Playboy magazine was thrown out in the woods. So we stuck parts of it under all the wheels. Still stuck. I don’t honestly remember how we got the car out, but I think it involved me pushing on the hood while he floored it in reverse. I made it home on time…barely. About 6 years, and many other long stories, later we got married.

I've had first dates that involve all manner and variety of sex, including bondage, fisting, and group sex. I had a first date in a public dungeon once where my date, a rather wicked and delightfully creative woman, demonstrated a type of rope bondage that's not painful as long as you don't struggle but becomes very painful as soon as you do...and then she challenged me to get out. That was interesting. I had a first date where my date challenged me to a wrestling match, winner gets the loser's body. I used to wrestle competitively, so I said yes--I thought I was a sure bet to win. Turns out I misjudged how strong and how fast she was. It was a hell of a struggle, but she eventually beat me.

But honestly, one of the first dates I remember most wasn't "adventurous" in that way at all. We went out for drinks and then played air hockey until the wee small hours of the night. Simple, but absolutely magnificent.

Start your date with a motorcycle ride, not to long about 35 minutes is perfect.

That should put a nice glow on her face.

Now here comes the phone challenge, since you each have one see who can capture someone in love, some one happy , some one sad, someone mysterious.

Do this as you walk around the city streets , you can add as many challenges as you like.

Once you both have some decent photos , time to get something to eat, this is a great time to compare pictures to determine the winner.

Winner of course gets a nice kiss, that breaks the ice and and adds some zest to the food stop.

Its quick , fun and simple and very eventful if your goal is to the break the ice.

Photo dates are a blast and kids love playing the challenge also with birds ect.

My boyfriend and I don't have a static routine or some activities we do on a daily or weekly basis. However I can tell you the dates we enjoyed the most:

* Pizza, beer and video games. it's fun to get competitive. Competition is sexy, right?
 * Karaoke night. Our neighbors probably hated us that night but we had so much fun singing our favorite song out of tune.
 * Fancy dress, fancy dinner and fancy music at jazz club. I couldn't believe how relaxing and pleasing it was.
 * Last but sure not least Disney cartoon marathon because we all enjoy going back to our childhood days once in a while. Even better when there is tons of ice-cream.

And thats when I didn’t hate haunted houses so much.

Haunted houses.

Roller coaster.

They secretly make for good dates. They shift the tension away from each other.

Feign helplessness from time to time. It will help make your spouse feel needed.

For me, this means asking my wife if certain outfits look good on me, before I wear them to work. I have eyes and a mirror. I know what they look like. I’ve worn the outfits before. But still, she’s “into” fashion, so I ask her to approve my outfits every now and then, just to acknowledge that she’s a fashionista and her opinions matter to me.

For her, this means asking me to check her edits. Part of her job includes editing other people’s technical writings. She has a Master’s in English. I have a Master’s in Teaching English, and I’m an English teacher. We’re both good with words. Still, every few weeks, she’ll email me a screen shot of something she edited, to see if I approve. It’s her little way of acknowledging that, even though I’m just a lowly, underpaid middle school English teacher, and she’s a highly-sought-after and well-paid technical editor, both our English skillz* are good.

*My students assure me that this is how the cool kids spell this word. I want to be a cool kid too.

Meeting a total strangers in a bar and accepting to have a sexual relation with him, knowing that he could be Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hides was probably the most adventurous things I've done in my life....

Oh and that one time, I was going out with a guy for about a year and we went to that stunning hotel room that we pay with all the money we've got (awww to be young again!!) and then just when we were getting to the hot part we found out that we had no condoms and just said fuck it! Everything went pretty adventurous after that, our son is 15 years old! I will remember that night all my life that for sure...

1. That varies greatly with me. So regimes sitting alone at home having a great conversation and laughter. That along can be a perfect date.
2. A ride across the mountain top to see the fall collage in full colors is breathtaking and romantic
3. A stroll around somewhere that's fascinating. Ie I've always wanted to see the Etowah mounds and walk free inside the gate instead of just seeing it as I zoomed past it to get to freeway. I'd love that

* Don’t be afraid to do each others laundry. Whether or not you live together before marriage, don’t be afraid to help each other with laundry. Now you might say, “Tinaaa. I don’t want my s/o to see my underwear before we are married… or ‘serious’”. I’d say, “if you’re going to be serious you should be able to do laundry together. Fold it and put it away together. It’s a part of life and it helps you bond.” When my husband and I were dating I often did his laundry for him as I had more time to drive to his house and do it. Or when he came over and I needed to do laundry, he’d do it with me. A relationship lasts when you can do the boring everyday together as well as the intentional dating.
 * Be willing to spend time with your significant other’s family without them around. I will say, I’m not good at this. I’ve tried to grow myself and attend family events without my husband but it’s hard for me. I’ve done it a few times… I think this is important because in a serious relationship it’s important to value the other person’s family - if possible. I struggle in this area and in some cases for some circumstances it isn’t possible for some people.
 * Write each other letters. In this day and age with technology and instant video chats it’s important to stop and write down your thoughts. My husband did this when we were dating and I cherished those letters every weekend when I lived out of town.

My girlfriend and I went ziplining for the first time last weekend. I also went skiing for the first time, though she is an experienced skier. I thought both were fairly adventurous.

I met a woman on OKCupid and we hit it off. She lived in Vietnam. I suppose our first date was the day I flew out there to meet her. I think that was pretty adventurous.

I went to Six Flags with a woman I had a huge crush on when I was terrified of roller coasters and sat in the front of Bizarro. While perhaps not adventurous by many folks standards, it was very outside my comfort zone.

She decided that a serious relationship with me meant accepting my passion for backpacking. We were somewhere in the Green Mountains of New Hampshire. Her knees gave out. We were about a quarter mile from a decent campsite with water.

She couldn’t go any further. I left her with a liter or so of water and a bag of granola.

I carried her backpack until I found a decent campsite. I set up the tent, broke out the cook set, and started fixing dinner.

[/code]We want to say that love is unconditional. It seems right. It is equal parts comforting and challenging. It is comforting because if I am loved, then there is nothing I can do to lose that. It is challenging because in order to love, I have to will to be untroubled by obstacles. We do not want to say love is conditional because we fear submitting love to the twisted logic of relationship terrorism: if you do not meet my demands, I deprive you of what is good for you, or vice versa. We think of conditions as qualifications and we do not want to attach qualifications to love. So we say love is unconditional. But that is wrong. Love is always conditional.

The conditions of love are not a list of demands but the ways in which love is demanding. If, as Aquinas teaches, “to love is to will the good of another,” then what makes love demanding are those conditions in which I have to figure out how exactly to will your good, conditions that also include my own creaturely limitations. You never exist in an abstract space, nor do I, and the conditions surrounding your wellbeing or woe and the conditions surrounding mine are the mold in which love is enfleshed. I love you here in this—that is, I will your good in a particular way that reckons with the conditions. If I commit to loving you in the future, then I commit myself to reckoning with whatever conditions may come. We want to call that unconditional love, but really it is a commitment to conditional love.

This is no mere semantic point. How we conceive of love sets the horizon for our imaginations. We think of formation towards that horizon. We construct images of truly loving persons. We measure ourselves and others against those images. We consider relational roles and vocational commitments accordingly. We pass on those expectations to our children. They accept or reject what we propose.

The fortunate among us beam with gratitude for those who have loved us “unconditionally.” But no one has ever been loved unconditionally by another person. Instead, the gratitude is really for someone else’s consistency in loving us conditionally. What kind of person loves conditionally, in a consistent way? That is a question that changes everything, once we stop fantasizing about unconditional love. What hangs in the balance is the difference between the idea of love and the reality of love. Reality has to do with conditions.
