i spent 2 months in KSA, while on my companys project,

  1. biggest shock was curtains in the dining room where women dine, no other than family person can see ladies dine.

This longtime practice in Saudi restaurants has one aim: To prevent men from seeing or being in close proximity to women to whom they are unrelated by birth or marriage. And it is the rule in establishments from an informalStarbucks to high-end dining places. Approaches to the wrong door will elicit frantic hand-waving from restaurant staffers.

Agents of the feared Saudi Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice are responsible for enforcing the restaurant rules. But these days, things have been relaxed a bit and it is possible for a group of foreigners who include unrelated men and women to dine together without incident. And in Jeddah, the commission’s enforcers have been banned from entering restaurants to spy on groups or couples who might be disobeying the gender segregation rules that offer a unique dining experience.

9. Malls and shops are closed during prayers (5 times a day)

All the shops need to be closed during prayer time. There is specific police assigned just to roam around in a city and make sure that shops are closed during prayers. Sometimes, we had to stand outside the shop for 30-45 minutes. Basically, you have to schedule according to prayers time.

10. No Income Tax !

There are no income tax imposed on salary you get in Saudi Arabia. I know people making 50,000- 60,000 SAR a month and still don't have to pay tax at all. Isn't that great? my salary was 14700 SAR per month

Income tax in North America and Europe is around 10-50%. In India it is around 10-30%.
