Well, I had a pretty good/bad experience with this.

I was never on any kind of social media before JEE(Advanced). Then I joined everything-Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp(I am on Twitter and Snapchat too, but I never understood what these are for, so not much usage), and so on.

I saw people doing all sorts of things like eating out and posting pictures on these platform. I never went to these limits, but I used to click some pics whenever I went to some place, and post it up too.

But slowly I began realizing that all this was so stupid. I never went the lengths people usually go, but still I regretted all this a lot. Inspired by my roommate(who has unfriended every single being on Earth and has turned on the 'friends only' setting), I unfollowed everyone(except 3–4 people) on Facebook.

My Facebook feed is harldy 3–4 screens long now. I unfollowed all meme pages, and turned off all notifications. I have followed official groups of IITB and all, for important information.

Instagram has even more shitposting on it. I got frustrated once, and unfollowed everyone(except people like Ed Sheeran and Mark Zuckerburg, of course). And you know what, some of my friends messaged me that you unfollowed me so I'll unfollow you as well. I mean, why such addiction? Friendship in real-life has now been replaced by a game of follows and unfollows. I told them all this, and all they did was to tag me as arrogant. I hardly put up anything on Instagram and Facebook these days(1 post in a month or less maybe).

Coming to WhatsApp. I facepalm almost everytime I see the status section. Rest is self explanatory. I am planning to leave WhatsApp too(maybe).

The only social ‘platforms' I am on are Quora and my Facebook page. Both these help me contribute to society(helping JEE aspirants). And I love doing it. I have unfollowed every uninteresting topic on Quora(thanks to those misusing Quora, I get very irritated when I see people write answers about how caring their boyfriend/girlfriend is, or how she met him/her/ how they love each other and all. Some one please explain how is this increasing anyone’s knowledge(Quora's mission)). I now follow only topics related to Computer Sciences.

Stop using Social Media ASAP, if you want to be happier.

Bottomline- Uninstall the apps and unfollow all those who don't contribute to your development. Delete unnecessary accounts.

P.S.- Many of you send me very long messages regarding JEE. I'll make it clear, I don't have time for answering all of you. I don't usually reply to JEE related queries anywhere. All I do is to mention some strategies via my answers on Quora/posts on FB. I have to study too, like you, and if I help everyone out there, it would only take up all my time. Please understand, and instead of messaging me, ask/request a meaningful and unanswered(by me) question. I'll try to answer it so that it helps many people instead of one. I hope you all understand : )
