You can either become more capable, or you can work harder.

Since capability is a combination of innate conditions and the cumulative total of what you've been doing from “day 1”, you can't change it in the short run.

This leaves working harder as the only option for the short run. This will lead to an increase in capacity in the long run, leading to exponential growth (like compound interest) - hence removing you from what's called the “average zone”.

Might sound a bit banal, but this is the core solution.
