I suspect that I did not get the quill for a number of reasons:

#1 | I am the worst kind of nuisance to Quora—the kind that they can’t get rid of because I didn’t break the rules… technically speaking.

You see, trolls, spammers, and assholes are easy to get rid of because they violate Quora policy on too many accounts.

I am a completely different breed—much of what I do sits in the grey area between what is allowed and not allowed. And because of that, Quora can’t really ban me, as they do not have substantial reasons to do so.

But I feel like Quora secretly doesn’t like my presence here. And I don’t really blame them. Over the years, I…

    • …have leaked some of Quora’s dirty secrets.
    • …created the QPCA, which some Quora moderators may see as a threat to the kind of content that they are trying to encourage on Quora.
    • …am a member of Consiglio Devastations, which Quora has been trying to get rid of because it’s “self-memery”, as one Quora moderator described it.
    • …have been involved in too much Quora drama.
    • …coined the practise of Quora Discord servers.

And even though none of those things are against the rules, I doubt Quora wants me to continue being involved in those activities.

But I am a stickler for the rules—if it’s not against Quora policy, I see it as a great opportunity.

#2 | The Quora Top Writer program awards writers who write highly technical answers to canonical questions in niche topics.

While Quora doesn’t explicitly say that, anyone who has been on Quora long enough can plainly see that they don’t care about writers who write in more general and lighter subjects like humour, hypothetical scenarios, life experiences, storytelling, or survey-type questions—even if those writers write exceptional content.

Obviously, I don’t really fit the bar for what Quora wants in a Top Writer. I know very little about almost everything, but I can’t say that I have extensive knowledge in any one specific topic.
