I used to work the closing shift at a McDonald’s in the UK back in 2010.
It was a pretty standard closing shift and I had just finished cleaning the grill and the oil vats and had moved on to mop the floor. That's when I heard the knock on the door. It was a couple and the woman was visibly pregnant.
I immediately rushed to the door assuming she's in an emergency situation. I opened the door and quickly inquired as to what was wrong.
She quietly asks me : “Are you still open? Because I'm craving a sandwich and none of the other McDonald’s were open.”
My heart immediately melted and I let them in and told them that it would take a while as I had already finished cleaning the oil vats and the grill.
She said : “Oh, I don't want any meat on my sandwich, I just want pickles on a toasted bun.”
I swear to God, I thought she was joking.
I quickly hid my smirk, trying (and failing) to act professional, told her that it would be my pleasure to serve her a pickle sandwich.
I made her the sandwich according to her request and watched her wolf it down.
She finished eating, thanked me and left.
I've served a lot of customers before her and a lot after, but to this day I would never forget her or her weird sandwich order.
