I gave KVPY in class 11 in SA stream. My interview was at MNIT Jaipur. After reaching there, I waited in a room before the interview. I was called. I was in my school uniform as told by my teachers.

I was a little nervous and drank water before going in. I went into the room. I was a little lost in thought so I wished everyone “good morning” although it was 5 in the evening. One of the interviewers said smiling “ Abhi Shaam Hai, my Dear ( Its evening, my dear)”. They were having snacks and all laughed and this set them in light mood.

There were around 7–8 people. One of the interviewers asked me if my favourite subject was physics. I said yes. Then he asked if I knew about current electricity, capacitors, angular momentum, etc. I said yes.

Then they asked me to go to the board. I was asked to describe Newton's second law in detail. I did so. Then I was asked to solve a question in which an infinite ladder of resistances was involved. I did it. Then I was asked to solve an equation in Mathematics. It involved factorisation. I went a little wrong in the last step but later corrected it after the interviewers pointed it out that something was wrong.

Then there were a few simple questions about sublimation, soil formation, etc.

I was then asked the definition of a perfect number. It was the only question about which I was clueless.

Then they told me that the interview was over. I began to rub the board but they said it was OK, so I left.

I do not remember my exact rank but it was in top 50 or so.

I never prepared for KVPY, but it is a memorable event in my life.
