I graduated in 2008 with an Engineering degree in ECE from a local engineering college in India. I was doing really bad in that company and I saw my peers receiving appreciations and incentives. My work was a bit technical and more management which a hated to the core. After 9 months, I decided to quit. I put my resignation letter and came back home. With the money I saved from the job, I joined in a coaching class for GATE preparation. I did not perform well, but was able to grab an admission in a decent college.
From there I tried to figure out my weakness. The realization that I am screwed helped me a lot. I focussed on a single subject and learnt all the aspects of that. This helped me to grab a decent job after graduation.
For developing my English speaking skills, I used to call Vodafone customer care and practiced. I started writing my assignments, taking so much time, so that it looked like professional reports. I added more words in my vocabulary and started watching English TV series. I am still working on my skills and its really working. I can feel that change. I moved to the US couple of years back and I work in a research lab here.
Be patient, everything will work out!
Where do I start?
I’m a huge financial nerd, and have spent an embarrassing amount of time talking to people about their money habits.
Here are the biggest mistakes people are making and how to fix them:

Okay, look. From the sound of it, you did an undergraduate degree, but regret not working harder. Then you got a couple of different jobs, but quit.
It sounds like you are trying to be the picture of success that is held up to Indian folks as the ideal - 'glamorous', high-paying MNC job, flawless English, sharp suit, an MBA.
That's just a picture that you're trying to show the world. "See? See what I did? I am a SUCCESS!"
But the thing is, that never works. The people who are wildly successful are people who are interested in (I won't say 'passionate about' because that is not essential) their su
The people who are wildly successful are people who are interested in (I won't say 'passionate about' because that is not essential) their subject matter. If they weren't, they would give up every time things got un-glamorous or tough. And many (many!) of the people who seem to succeed immediately are just pretending and showing off. Don't be taken in.
Looking at the companies you applied to: they have nothing much in common. They are just 'multi-national'. And an MBA has nothing to do with any of this. You are just going after things that sound cool and fancy. You have no focus.
You're going to have to make your goals more specific. You know: not 'something that will impress Indian society'! That's not a useful goal. Useful goals are Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timely.
Stop messing around with vague self-help stuff. Focus.
Focus on getting a job that:
- you can get honestly,
- pays your bills, and
- teaches you some actual skills, unlike the fluff you have been doing so far.
And that's all. It doesn't have to be 'multi-national'. It doesn't have to be glamorous, and prestigious, and super-high-paying, and fancy. Or any of that crap.
To do that, you're going to have to choose your area. You know what kinds of jobs are out there. What do you think you could be good at? If you spent time on it, sincerely? You don't have to be 'rock-star, amazing' good. Just good enough so you don't have to lie and bullshit to your managers, but can instead show them a job well done.
Then work your way up. Or move laterally. Baby steps.
I'm not saying quit your dreams. I'm saying start from where you actually are. Right now, you aren't a great employee. Become a great employee.
Then apply to a great company. You don't have that luxury now.
(Seriously, if your grades were bad, and your projects were 'shit' (your word, not mine), and you're not great at selling yourself, why would the best companies hire you? Do you think they're looking to hire people with bad grades? There are amazing, hardworking people out there, who would make them a huge profit if hired. You have to become employable, if you want to be employed.)
Also, don't get married. That's another complication you don't need now.
You are searching for something that will only be found from within you. Here is why.
Right now, you're playing the character of a failed man which causes you to think about failures all across the board. Everything you look at or read about or hear about twists the perspective of reality into a failed reality.

Failures suck...but it is necessary for growth. Not just for people but also the evolution of things in life. Think of it as a series of start-ups that keep getting better.
I imagine that there are highly successful men and women in India who are considered to be geniuses among the population. I would bet that those same people have experienced more failures than successes in order for them to have achieved their current status. Things don't happen overnight.
Here's how most people find the switch in their minds to direct their focus for positive changes.
I assumed that you enjoyed watching the movies that you listed, yes? There were probably a couple of movies that you connected with in relation to the plot or the characters of the movie. And, often times there were moments when you experienced an emotional sensation during the movie.
So during the 1-3 hours of watching a movie, it feels almost like an out-of-body experience, yes?
This is what you have to do. Switch the roles.
Stop playing the victimized failed character. Why are you becoming a victim of your own creation?
Be the character who grows stronger through the challenges, not weaker or more afraid. Face the challenges head on as a main character would in a fantastic movie.
Do not be the character who is afraid to pass step two in the heroes journey below.
Those times when it feels like you are connecting with the character of the movie are moments of reality that can be yours, only if you take action towards it.
Every blockbuster hit movie will follow a heroes journey.
And if things just seem to be getting worse and worse then create a new version of your life movie!
Sometimes letting go from what you know now and embracing an unknown about the future will create the life you have always desired.

1. Cancel Your Car Insurance
You might not even realize it, but your car insurance company is probably overcharging you. In fact, they’re kind of counting on you not noticing. Luckily, this problem is easy to fix.
Don’t waste your time browsing insurance sites for a better deal. A company called Insurify shows you all your options at once — people who do this save up to $996 per year.
If you tell them a bit about yourself and your vehicle, they’ll send you personalized quotes so you can compare them and find the best one for you.
Tired of overpaying for car insurance? It takes just five minutes to compare your options with Insurify and see how much you could save on car insurance.
2. Ask This Company to Get a Big Chunk of Your Debt Forgiven
A company called National Debt Relief could convince your lenders to simply get rid of a big chunk of what you owe. No bankruptcy, no loans — you don’t even need to have good credit.
If you owe at least $10,000 in unsecured debt (credit card debt, personal loans, medical bills, etc.), National Debt Relief’s experts will build you a monthly payment plan. As your payments add up, they negotiate with your creditors to reduce the amount you owe. You then pay off the rest in a lump sum.
On average, you could become debt-free within 24 to 48 months. It takes less than a minute to sign up and see how much debt you could get rid of.
3. You Can Become a Real Estate Investor for as Little as $10
Take a look at some of the world’s wealthiest people. What do they have in common? Many invest in large private real estate deals. And here’s the thing: There’s no reason you can’t, too — for as little as $10.
An investment called the Fundrise Flagship Fund lets you get started in the world of real estate by giving you access to a low-cost, diversified portfolio of private real estate. The best part? You don’t have to be the landlord. The Flagship Fund does all the heavy lifting.
With an initial investment as low as $10, your money will be invested in the Fund, which already owns more than $1 billion worth of real estate around the country, from apartment complexes to the thriving housing rental market to larger last-mile e-commerce logistics centers.
Want to invest more? Many investors choose to invest $1,000 or more. This is a Fund that can fit any type of investor’s needs. Once invested, you can track your performance from your phone and watch as properties are acquired, improved, and operated. As properties generate cash flow, you could earn money through quarterly dividend payments. And over time, you could earn money off the potential appreciation of the properties.
So if you want to get started in the world of real-estate investing, it takes just a few minutes to sign up and create an account with the Fundrise Flagship Fund.
This is a paid advertisement. Carefully consider the investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses of the Fundrise Real Estate Fund before investing. This and other information can be found in the Fund’s prospectus. Read them carefully before investing.
4. Earn Up to $50 this Month By Answering Survey Questions About the News — It’s Anonymous
The news is a heated subject these days. It’s hard not to have an opinion on it.
Good news: A website called YouGov will pay you up to $50 or more this month just to answer survey questions about politics, the economy, and other hot news topics.
Plus, it’s totally anonymous, so no one will judge you for that hot take.
When you take a quick survey (some are less than three minutes), you’ll earn points you can exchange for up to $50 in cash or gift cards to places like Walmart and Amazon. Plus, Penny Hoarder readers will get an extra 500 points for registering and another 1,000 points after completing their first survey.
It takes just a few minutes to sign up and take your first survey, and you’ll receive your points immediately.
5. Stop Paying Your Credit Card Company
If you have credit card debt, you know. The anxiety, the interest rates, the fear you’re never going to escape… but a website called AmONE wants to help.
If you owe your credit card companies $100,000 or less, AmONE will match you with a low-interest loan you can use to pay off every single one of your balances.
The benefit? You’ll be left with one bill to pay each month. And because personal loans have lower interest rates (AmONE rates start at 6.40% APR), you’ll get out of debt that much faster.
It takes less than a minute and just 10 questions to see what loans you qualify for.
6. Earn Up to $225 This Month Playing Games on Your Phone
Ever wish you could get paid just for messing around with your phone? Guess what? You totally can.
Swagbucks will pay you up to $225 a month just for installing and playing games on your phone. That’s it. Just download the app, pick the games you like, and get to playing. Don’t worry; they’ll give you plenty of games to choose from every day so you won’t get bored, and the more you play, the more you can earn.
This might sound too good to be true, but it’s already paid its users more than $429 million. You won’t get rich playing games on Swagbucks, but you could earn enough for a few grocery trips or pay a few bills every month. Not too shabby, right?
Ready to get paid while you play? Download and install the Swagbucks app today, and see how much you can earn!

So you are 30, and have another 40+years to live, are you going to make yourself useful to society or you are going to vegetate and marinate in self pity?
Life didn't turn out as you expected. You won't make $10 mil.and have 3 Mercedes and 5 BMWs in your garage anytime soon with your engineering career, so what, life goes on. Go back to school, get some education, become a teacher, marry another teacher, drive a Toyota, make a positive difference in your students' lives and live happily ever after.
Society looks down on you, who cares, believe me, people don't talk about you as much as you think. Live your life, make it good, start over at 30, so the next 8 can be better than the last 8 were.
Whatever you do from now on, apply yourself, focus, do it until you reach your goals. When I read your description 2 things came to mind: this guy has unlimited time to waste, and unlimited resources to waste, he must live on somebody else's expenses. So take responsibility, do it like you mean it.
I' looking forward to hearing fro you 3-4 years from now, maybe you can include a pic of you with a wife and 1-2 kids then.
Cheers!

You are tired of people judging you but alas! you live in a society, You will be judged there is no running away from it. The question is are you gonna allow those opinion to affect you??
CALM DOWN! TAKE A DEEP BREATH!
I say this because I've seen this frustration among people and I'll tell you how to come over it. Lemme tell you, It's not gonna make you a big shot entrepreneur or something. However, It's gonna make you feel comfortable, It's gonna make you happy and that's the ultimate goal of life isn't it?
You know the best decision you can ever take is to start being comfortable in your own skin.I understand you don't like where you are and you wanna move. but before you do that, accept who you are, with all your flaws. Start Loving Yourself. Believe me it doesn't sound like a panacea of all but it is where you've to start .It doesn't matter if you like it or not because the answer to all the solutions comes from within.
Now I wish you've accepted yourself as you are. lemme tell you another thing. Success is subjective. If you perceive people who only have a great career as successful then as per you an Indian Middle Class Women would be the epitome of FAILURE! sorry for being so presumptuous but ask your mom, is she a failure? Would you now think that she has failed in raising such a beautiful kid like you, who can write decent English, Communicate with other people across the globe and most importantly can earn for himself? Life is not about being successful it's about being "happy" and how should you achieve it, should be your question. There are greater things in life than having a successful career, your friends, your family they are important. Believe me they are, just as important as breathing, Relationship matters, not with every facile person you get acquainted to but with the ones you connect, don't let them go !
Here we are searching for happiness again!
Now just search for how to find your passion. Start here: How do you know if you've discovered your passion? Found your passion? well great! Now work on it and find a way to get paid for it(Cliched, I know but there is a reason why they say that)! Those answer didn't ring any bell ?? well, give yourself sometime!
Important point: People will tell you can find happiness once you discover your passion and work your ass off in that direction and you will become the next big shot! However, that's not the only way. start finding happiness in small little things of life. To be candid I never understood this part unit I had some moral epiphanies. It will take time, meanwhile, TRY THIS: How do I find inner happiness? It is really important you do this.
Now I wish you've fathomed what I wanted to convey, lets come to your problem.
You don't like IT?but you would like get into a managerial role even if it's in IT. hmm so what are you running away from. THINK, HOLD ON! It's you, who is running away from yourself!! TADA! You are not facing your problems, you are cribbing about it! You are preparing for CAT but I'm certain half of the time you just think what's gonna happen when you score a descent percentile! STOP THINKING, START ACTING! you wanna do an MBA but you don't actually know why? You want managerial responsibility but how could one give you that if you can't manage yourself? Think about it. Star acting like a grown up. get your shit together!.
Just remember, It's not the end of life you are only 30, It's the new 20's. Most of the renowned people began their career in late 30's or early 40's and look at you miserable cunt, you giving up on life so soon.
Finally: read other answers to this question there are many wise people around who've lost most more than you could ever accumulate and still have swung back at life.Wish you luck!
I haven't read, heard and don't know most of the movies, books and commencements you have mentioned, but they don't matter. It really doesn't.

I am merely a youngster, who probably doesn't know what life without a job is, because I am still in my college, but I do know of rejection, I do know of pain and I certainly do know about tears.
And, I also happen to know that, you always have to climb up, and just because you can't measure how far you have come, doesn't mean you haven't climbed at all.
You may think what you did till now had no effect on you, but I deny to agree with that. If it was so, you wouldn't be asking for help. You already have accepted the problem and are seeking a solution.
All you need now is perseverance.
It didn't take a day to build Rome, and if problems went away without any effort, they wouldn't be problems to be called.
Trying, trying and trying, is what is to be done.
If not this, the other.
Look for some online jobs, something, anything to keep you in your comfortable position and along side work on what you feel are your negatives.
Knowing what's wrong and doing nothing about it is how failures list out.
I am not asking you to keeping on trying where you failed, because to know when to stop is intelligence. I am asking you to keep trying for other opportunities, and doing that is being wise.

My age is 27 and I have already changed 26 houses... 9 schools.... 4 colleges....
I was always a brilliant student but that is not enough sometimes.... I passed my 12th science with many difficulties...
I went for engineering because my father wanted ... I took loan for it.... Due to some reasons bank did not approved one year fees... My college did not allowed me to sit in examination.... My whole one year was lost...I raised my voice against this and also against many unethical things carried out at my college and university.... They started harassing me...they started failing me without any reasons... But I did not give up and gave a tough fight....
I use to prepare for army...I cleared upsc CDs thrice and appeared for SSB interview twice ...both the time conference out.. Missed by an inch....
After too much struggle I completed my Engineering as well as completed diploma in journalism....
But during this my father left us suddenly ( he is alive)....we were on rent.... I was finding job then...my father left us with zero bank balance.... I was literally broken....but I had to find a job because now food and shelter of my mother and brother was on me....I took a job of Sales Executive in a desert shop immediately... Though it was not of my level.... I performed well there....
But still life was not good....my father filed a divorce case against my mother.... We were all alone...only few friends of mine I had as support... I was not earning much to pay advocate... So he left case in between.... Now another advocate is hired...
During this time, I met a girl..she was too from a very disturbed past....she forcefully married at the age of 17... She had two children... Now she was divorced and custody of her children was with her ex husband.....her parents were already divorced when she was 3 or something.... She was raised by her uncle and bua....we were in deep love...I accepted everything of her...she was 4 years older to me...she was less educated than me...but this was not mattered as I truly loved her....
I also switch the job... But again where I took new job were fraud....I had to left the job in 7/days.....on the same day her guardians told her not to meet me...as i was not stable, I did not had my own house, I was not having any bank balance, I did not had any kutumb and samaaj....this were the reasons given by them....
Now I was job less a d love less....but you know during all this in my life I was never hopeless... Because it made me stronger and stronger... I always Emerged from ashes...like a Phoenix bird....even today i am searching job every day.... You will feel depressed but you have to keep moving.... And irony....I also give motivational lecture with all this problems with my side...
So keep confidence in your self.... Your time will come for sure....

Wow! You might be the case of too much of analysis before acting. There is always a fight for your time and attention between planning, acting according the plan and using an opportunity. Sometimes you do that, sometimes you do something different. Nobody can tell in advance what is better. You just try this and that until you do something that feels right. Then you learn, re-evaluate and continue or change again.

If I would be in your situation (and I was, I think, when the country around me - the USSR - disappeared and we were exposed like bottom fish during the low tide) I would not look for the best opportunity. I would use all of them, even the tiniest one. I did that, and the least promising move turned to be a lucky strike. I used it to open more opportunities and, eventually, emigrated in the US, where I had to start from scratch again and used the minimum chances I had and still do.
I failed many times until I succeeded and failed again. I failed more times than succeeded, so, technically, I am a failure. But I have achieved more than many and much more than I ever hoped to achieve.
Read how Jonathan Brill answered question Is it better to focus on your strengths or on your weaknesses? It sums it up for me.
Well as they say SHIT HAPPENS.
Yes, you have failed as per standards of society. But who gives a damn about it. Recently I was discussing with my friend that this society is like a well and the members of society are frogs. If a person wants to climb up, others pull him back. Similarly if a person doesn't suceed as per standards of society he is ridiculed and given a notion that he is not normal. Either because these members of society are jealous of you or it hurts their ego as to how dare a person do not confirm its standards.

I can tell from first hand experience that people just say anything. Once a person gave a certain advice & i acted upon it. When i failed he admonished me. I said i follwed your advice. He replied that dont blame your failure on me, its your life you have to decide it for yourself. Society need a topic to gossip. Sometimes its you. If they are not serious about it, why are you.
Since you have gone lot of inspirational & motivational stuff, you will agree that all achievers are frogs who left the well. My opinion is that you are on cusp of happiness. You are well placed to take a course of life where you can be happy. But you will have define happiness for yourself. Look inside to find out what brings a glimmer in your eyes, smile on your face and passion in you heart. It can be anything from cooking to hichhiking to collecting stamps.
Any advice will be useless as its the attitude that matters. People can share their perspective from life experiences. Change your attitude towards life. You are best advisor for yourself. Its your life so live in your way.
PS: I have maintained happiness quite a few time. Its because i believe it should be the only target in life.

Let us say I was touring Western countries for the 10 years of my life. Then one day I say "Hmm...I am bored of it now. Let me change path and start touring Eastern countries"
Does that mean "I failed in the first phase of my tourist life"?
Do you realize that it is the experience of your first phase that brought you to this happy realization that you "want a change". Many people might have continued for another 20 years being lost. If you see someone in the similar situation 3 years into their career, would you have a few words of wise advice to give her? What NOT to do, if not what TO do...that's it! your experience is valuable!!
We are the sum total of our past successes, and failures..all our experiences.
OK, maybe you mean you have not achieved anything significant in this 'first phase' of life.
But how do you define your 'life' Is Life=Career?
All those things you have outlined in your question details, do you realize how many people fall prey to those vices and mess up their lives? You might be succeeding but not labellin...

Success is when they say of you, "My father was a kind and caring man, and that is the lesson of life I have learned from him. That was my father's success, and it is what I will pass on to my own children."
Firstly I apologize, as I am too young to give you advice. But as a person what I could say is, you get only a single life. Don't waste it. Explore yourself and find out what interests you. 30 is not a very old age. Without struggle there is no taste if life. Do something that gives you satisfaction so that when you are in your 80's you could recall those moments that will put smile on your face. If something interests you, never give up until you get it, but if you are struggling to get something which doesn't interests you, then it is of no use.
Have faith in your self and god, you will sure

I had just turned 29 when the recession hit. I was also unemployed, trying to shift careers and wanted to move back home by my family because I was burnt out. The past 7 years, I had worked in the political/legislative world and been laid off multiple times during that period. The pay also sucks in that industry, which is why everyone tries to become a consultant or lobbyist, but that is an other story.
So, I made the move and sat there for three months. If you remember, every week we were shedding thousands upon thousands of jobs. It was extremely difficult to watch our country go through that. My family lives in a small town and there were no jobs in sight. Thankfully, a friend was living in San Diego where I attended undergrad. He allowed me to crash with him and we ended up launching a water conservation company. I also applied to a graduate program at that time and was accepted into the program.
Well, we worked on the business for a year and could not make it go. In addition, I piled on a bunch of college debt to live. Jobs were so hard to come by all that I could do was lead generation for social media company’s. While I enjoy sales, making cold calls for hours on end to doctor’s and dentist’s offices is not my cup of tea. I left So Cal with just a few bucks in my pocket after graduating and headed back to Oregon to recoup with my family and figure out the next step.
Serving in the military had always appealed to me, but I’d put it off for other opportunities up to that point. So, I walked into the National Guard recruiters office and told him I wanted to become an intelligence officer. Now, going through bootcamp at any age is no picnic, but at 31, it’s wild. Being at the same rank and working with kids who were born when you were in high school is humbling. They don’t even remember the 80’s! It was also an amazing experience where I learned how to push past mental/physical barriers and not give up, no matter how tired, hungry or angry I had become.
From there, I went to OCS, which was a kick in the pants to say the least. My last name is Officer, so you can imagine the fun they had with me. But I kept pushing through and earned my commission. From there, I went to military intelligence school, which was more like being back in college then the military. Graduating from BOLC was a tremendous experience and one I will never forget.
I thought I would go to Afghanistan after finishing school, since it was the end of 2012 and operations were still going strong. I didn’t though, so I dived back into the civilian job search. I always wanted to live in LA, and moved there after spending a month in Vegas at my cousin’s looking for housing and a job. I had live in Westwood for a summer during grad school and had a strong appreciation for the city.
Still, the next year I worked low paying sales jobs and couldn’t land a solid position. I love the city and the community I built there, but was struggling to make it. Then, I saw an opportunity to jump on an active duty IT project for the Army Reserve. It was back in D.C., where I had left in 2008. While I wanted to stay in LA, I took the opportunity and headed east once again. That was four years ago.
In a week and a half, at age 38, I start a job with Accenture. The last four years haven’t been a piece of cake either, but, I’ve grown in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I’ve learned patience, resilience and to always keep moving forward. If you find yourself in this position, here are a couple of pieces of advice, from someone who has been there.
1. Stop And Breathe
2.
1. When the walls start closing in and you feel like there is no where to go and no hope, just stop and breathe. Breathe in life. I know it sounds fluffy and cliched, but there is something about clearing your head and the voices of doubt, sha...

Failure and Success are states of mind. Those who get ruined by failures actually operate through lower states of mind or we can say that they are not in sync with their inner higher self. Their mind is wandering out. Those who learn from failures or transform failures into success handle failures by being in higher states of mind. When we operate through higher states of mind, we analyse our mistakes and are able to correct the mistakes.

When we operate through higher states of mind, we analyse our mistakes and are able to correct the mistakes.
How to deal with failures:
The most effective way to move forward from setbacks is to raise the energy levels. There is no other way. Higher energy levels elevate brain functioning. There is an area in our brain, the pre-frontal cortex. This is our executive centre but this centre operates only when we are in positive states of emotions. PFC is our inner source to higher intellect and higher guidance. PFC keeps us in present moment. When PFC is fully functional, the worries of the past and anxieties of the future are completely diminished. We can fully concentrate on the task at hand or be in present moment.
When PFC and other centres of higher brain are energised, the neurons in these areas secrete positive neurochemicals like dopamine, serotonin, nor-epinephrine, endorphins and anandamine. These are the chemical under which we give our peak performance.
Being happy and calm is the biological need to combat failures but majority of us get trapped by sadness, hopelessness and despair during tough times and this is the reason people fail to combat failures.
The first need is to elevate the physiology, physiology changes emotions, positive emotions make us feel good, enthusiastic and good feelings generate positive thoughts.
When we are in positive emotions, our brain concentrate on finding solutions and look for positive or the gains even out of failures. This is the key.
Under lower energy, our brain is conditioned to complain and held others responsible for our failures.
You should practice mindfulness on regular basis. If you can practice mindfulness in right way for a month, you can substantially transform your thoughts patterns from negative to positive.
Failures are a source of great learning. This is not a philosophical statement but a hard core neurological finding.

Hi.
Based on my experience my advice would be to Stay positive, surround yourself with people, friends who have a positive outlook towards you(Are aware of your strengths).Start filtering your activities to value add & non value add on daily basis till you find an answer to what you wish to do ahead. You should not consider success (Career,Relationship) as the only key factor to measure happiness in your life. Career is just one facet of the long life that you have lived so far.Nothing is end of the world. Please remember in one mantra "Problems are Oppurtunities".The tougher it gets the brighter are the chances for you to prosper. Please donot label your career, yourself as failure..Do Think who, what defines failure for you.I mean getting a higher salary, making a code that is well appreciated by the client or easily getting a job is not success in career.Donot compare yourself with others everyone has different strengths & weaknesses. You would also have some.Keep telling yourself that you atleast tried your best & you will give yourself a 2nd chance. I would like to tell you that in Indian scenarios mostly 60% of successful leaders.. rethink or change the careers to something that they really wish to do at the age of 30, so probably you are also one of them.
How do you pursue goals ahead ...or What should be your plans ahead..1st thing 1st..You need to work upon yourself ..Love yourself & Identify your strengths..Each day before going to sleep think of the best events..or good things that have happened in your life (I am sure there will be many). Secondly, Find an answer if you are really willing to consider Software Er as a job profile to work again Since you already have some experience & exposure which not everyone has...If yes you can start again with smaller firms or start up's..this will give you chance to regain confidence. You can also take up free lancing..for small projects for a school..library.You would know you are still interested or not.If you have made up your mind that you donot wish to take up a career in IT.The possible options could be pursuing higher education eg.MBA(IT).During placements this will give you an extra advantage over others since you hold a relevant experience in IT ..you may draw higher salary th...
Extremely depressing to hear all this.
It seems that all this positivity is not impacting you at all.
I ma not sure what else will? Definitely this Quora answer may also not make an impact on you.
So stop, take a minute and ask yourself: What would you like to do with your life? Do you want to live a life filled with joy and succeed?
Prepare a plan of action, put in at least two small but worthwhile things to do daily and start working on achieving them. This is one simple and sure step to success.
Al the best!
"Life is what our thoughts make it"
Life is a game, you can not sit aside and think I am a failure, game is still on so keep playing, if you missed few goals that does not mean you have failed. Get up, discover your passion, the things of your interest, brush up your knowledge. Take small steps in that direction, appreciate your efforts, celebrate your small achievements. Keep moving slowly n steadily, do not stop, do not run. Keep telling yourself that "it's easy, I can do it"

There are plenty of good answers to this question when I've received this A2A, and the advice I am going to give is simple, stop trying so hard for something that's clearly not working. When things just won't work no matter how much effort you apply, then it's time to stop and reconsider options.
No plan on earth, no monumental effort, or studies, workshops, reading or planning will make something work that just is not meant to be. This is the place where you say no more and let it go, then turn around and get someone to help you evaluate the skills you have and what you may be able to do with

This is clearly a case of trying too hard, and now it's time to stop with this effort and find another path.
- Stop blaming and critiquing yourself first.
- Don't count your failures or result less acts.
- You are what you are, you had to be like that today, to fit into the present circumstances.
- Own your life first.
- ‘I love playing games, I will play games all life, maybe start a gaming channel part time.’
- ‘I have to build a fresh plan and ambition for myself.’
- ‘I left two universities because I have the guts to listen to my heart and reject what's not meant for me.’
- ‘I have a good fifty years to love, act, enjoy, try and achieve. If it were only five and not fifty, I would still give my heart and soul to life.’

- Start identifying, comparing, and Rejecting options. Like, course A vs Course B. Studies vs business, Business A vs Business B. The purpose is to reach the best available option.
- Decide firmly, with a happy mind, and a commitment to stand by yourself in dusts and storms.
- Write a journal of self improvement journey, see yourself going farther and farther, gradually improving on every aspect. It's your autobiography, it must be a best seller.
- Realise that for some people life has to be exciting and not predictable and boring, for some people life is a roller coaster ride, and you are the chosen one.
- Commit to always respect yourself even if you end up with nothing at all. Just respect yourself if you are doing the right karma in life.
- Don't look back again and again, if you are alive today, do it today, live in today, act in today, be present and mindful here.
- Make a lovely day out of a simple combination of day and night. Practise gratitude for good health and opportunities, for having covered a long journey without much hassles, spend time in a garden being mindful, go on long walks, pray, read good books, start a gaming channel, travel, and work, listen to positive songs before sleeping. Make the best out of life.
- Whenever you feel you can't do anything, get a glass, fill it with water, and drink. As you gulp down the water, realise that if you can do this, you can do anything.
- Now smile and start :)

There is so much struggle inside which wants to come outside . You are getting detached from things may be because you had a deep negative experience somewhere in past , which made you feel you cannot do anything. Your brain is trying to safeguard you by making you in comfortable zone , it really does this things , like a mother who tried to safeguard her infant . Your brain tries to remove you from situation which are very similar to those past negative experience , that had impacted on you so much . That would be one reason you are not able to do something , which is not giving you any help

Your brain is trying to safeguard you by making you in comfortable zone , it really does this things , like a mother who tried to safeguard her infant . Your brain tries to remove you from situation which are very similar to those past negative experience , that had impacted on you so much . That would be one reason you are not able to do something , which is not giving you any help , but increasing your chances of depression. Talking to friends I won't suggest , because they may not know the whole part which is bothering you . You supposedly are lacking Eros which is life instict , if that is in you, you really try to create more meaning from life. Not able to settle in one place may be from the part that your inner mind is not getting a reason to get more goodness from there And gaming is a method of achieving something or creating a sense of achieving something . So that's the root cause part. Now what can we do for it.
You really have to confront yourself .
Don't explain people that you can do things., First explain to yourself , how you feel for yourself , what you think for yourself as a third party. Be generous , because it only accepts the true part. Be like a good friend to your brain and explain you feel proud that you got an achievement of not harming yourself .you did care for yourself and you tried to entertain yourself by engaging yourself in game which is all about win or loose. See if you had won many games , then you are incredible . You actually can beat problems even if it was virtual . And may be you are beating your problems through game, but why don't you go to next level ,challenging yourself beating low health , sleeplessness. Challenging yourself singing a song alone , acting as a professional in your like field . Because if you really like games and you nailed it , which most achieved people gonna fail , you are more than you think . That is not a bad of you , that is proving that somewhere inside there is a strong stubborn and a winning attitude person is evolving . Have a self talk .
I hope you will find some benefits from this . God bless you and take care

I am kinda in the same situation. I have depression and extreme anxiety about certain things and it developed into bad social anxiety. Just the thought of going to a job interview sets my anxiety off bad. Like right now just typing it I can feel the anxiety working on me. my body and mind just can’t handle it.

But I started where a few of the other answers stated. With getting healthy and losing weight (that I put on being a social butterfly, too much food and too much drink.) I have lost 75 pounds, I still have anxiety and depression but its been a great start for me to work on feeling better inside and out with my health coming first, it makes me feel proud of myself for a change that I did something to better some part of my life.
And I am also a gamer, but have made a point even if I am going to be home all day to not be gaming 24/7, I allow a couple hours a day to game or some days not at all. I started reading again instead. I picked up watching documentaries and spend on Quora reading new things or using the internet to learn new things(mostly about health). Instead of just gaming and movies. I do some form of cleaning everyday to avoid sitting around allowing my depression and anxiety to grab hold of me.
I make it a big point to force myself to leave the house to grocery shop or just get out of the house because I know I need too! Its a really hard situation and those not going through it always make it sound so easy to change your life and just do this or that. Its not that simple. Because you want to but there is this terrible thing hindering you from it you feel you have no control over and then that will start the cycle over again. I have became so ashamed of myself and my life I don’t even want people who knew me to see me anymore. because the first thing they ask is. “So where you working?” I have to hang my head feel ashamed and say “Nowhere.” They never ask how you are but what you do for work. and then the cycle starts again just by the one question. I even have felt the need to lie about what I am doing and I am not a liar by no means. I do not usually go through with the lie, but I come so close just because I don’t want to be a pathetic loser to them or myself.
So what I am getting at is start small and work on making yourself feel better day by day. Work on getting healthy in your body and mind by things you can do at home and then start working on branching out. Go for a simple walk, get some fresh air, clean your house, read, make yourself feel somewhat productive even if just for a short period of time…. I am still battling with all mine and suicide also has crossed my mind many times also, I even was working on a way that if someday I cant handle this anymore I have a way out from the pressures of life. Which is the wrong attitude I know as I really do not want to die, I just can’t handle this life anymore. But as of right now I am working on taking it day by day and trying my best to start small with making myself feel good, look good and be happy with myself first…even if I still cry myself to sleep nearly every night. So far Ive gone 3 weeks without a bout with serious depression due to changing my eating habits yet again. My anxiety is always present I fear I will never overcome it. But at least I am trying with the small things and you should also and see where it takes you.
I hope you can find what you need to carry on and make it through.

i would give u a brief detail of my career i was a very bright student not manged to top our school or college but i was good enough to be in top 10 immediately as i completed my graduation in management i got placed in L & T as a graduate commercial trainee at that time i was 22 (2011) i was getting a salary of 15k with other perks u can save the whole amount coz the perks covered almost every living expenses .but guess what i didnt liked the job coz project site posting was not that good so i left the job didnt even gave a try within a week of joining then i started persueing icwai which u call cost accountancy similar to ca and cs with very low pass % of 5–10%.it had 2 stages intermediate and finals ..i passed the intermediate in 2013 but attempted the finals but was unable to clear…i got frustrated and somehow kept on giving exams with no interest some how when i was sitting disappointed with my career i got a Call From HSBC bank (2016) investment banking division they call me for the interview it had 5 rounds to crack for 1 position i had 50 odd people to compete with i somehow manged to crack and joined the job this time it was 27k and i was happy that somehow if i mange to retain my position i would be at a decent position earning 50k-80k after few yrs but guess what it had immense work pressure with a icing on the cake of night shifts my shift use to start at early 3.30 am in the morning so had to wake up at 2.30 am some how my life was totally fucked up and messed up i was no longer happy due to tensed job and night shift manager was even unsupportive so had to quit without any notice now its 2019 which is about to end and still i didnt managed to pass icwai final exam gave it last time failed in the aggregate shortage..
In between i attended few interviews last yr some said ur overqualified for the job some said about the gaps.. no longer appear for govt exams coz i have crossed teh age of 30 bla bla this how my life is fucked up
if u think getting a govt job gives u a stability its a misconception the job posting and peers would be a pain in ass and believe me u cant even quit or switch the job…
Happiness is just a state of mind some are happy with nothing and some are even sad with crores…even at this point of time i am keeping myself positive by telling myself that if i pass the exam some how i would definitely able to manage a job of 30k and start my career at 31 i would be married by 34–35 age still not bad if everything fails i will start a small business at 31–32 and get settled…every one is having their own time line..obama retired at the age of 50 & trump took over at 70.
so worrying wont help small steps towards ur goals will led u to somewhere ultimately u have to think and make ur own choices for ur career no one else would do or their is any predefined success formula to get settle
best of luck
You, my friend, are in a wonderful position.
You might think that I am joking. But I am not.
The problem with most people is that they don't accept the situation they are in.
Some don't know that they are in trouble while others don't want want to accept their reality. So, they knowingly or unknowingly lie to themselves about their situation.
You, on the other hand, seem to have the uncommon gift of seeing things the way they are.
I know it doesn't feel good to see yourself this way. But you are still being true to yourself. This is true power, my friend.

You, on the other hand, seem to have the uncommon gift of seeing things the way they are.
I know it doesn't feel good to see yourself this way. But you are still being true to yourself. This is true power, my friend.
Now, instead of hoping or seeking whether there is any hope left, start demanding things from yourself.
Stop hoping, start demanding. A lion doesn't hope that it will catch a prey. It hunts it down with all its might. Hope will not get things done. Setting expectations and following through on them will.
Now the specifics:
Your health: This is top priority. You need to act now. Set aside an hour everyday to take your health where you want it to go. You can manage an hour, can’t you?
You can opt for yoga, running, lifting weights, some sort of sport, anything would do. Just make sure you choose something and follow through on it.
Your job situation: I don't want you to quit. But I also don't want you to be completely dependent on the job.
So, in your free time, start working towards generating an alternate source of income.
There are many options available these days - blogging, YouTube, seller on Amazon etc. You will have to put in some effort, research a bit and prepare a plan. But the time you spend here will be worth it.
A. It will reduce your dependency on your job.
B. And you will learn a new skill.
C. And in turn, your confidence will increase.
Your age: Now, we cannot do anything about your age. But you are still very young. You have your entire life ahead of you. I don't think there is anything to be worried. You should be happy that you aren't 50. That would have been bad, wouldn't it?
Self-esteem: You get your health fixed, don't be completely dependent on your job and you will notice that things will start to change for the good in this area of your life.
Socially awkward: It is okay to be socially awkward. I mean there is nothing wrong with it. But if it is a confidence thing, then as I said, once your situation starts to improve, you will automatically gain confidence.
Are you a loser?: Wrong question. Rather ask, how can I be a winner? Just changing this question, will change the way you see your life.
Now, finally, is there any hope left?:
Like I said at the beginning, it is not needed.
Stop hoping, start demanding!
You are being too hard on yourself. You could be 40 or 50 and unmarried. Then where would you be. Some people marry early but then get divorced as they can’t take the pressure at that age. You have plenty of time to sort things out.
Hope comes to those who think positively. You can make something from nothing by looking at it in an optimistic way.
Why don’t you tell yourself I am 30 unburdened by the pressures of married life. I am free to make certain decisions for which I will have to bear sole responsibility without affecting others. Stop comparing yourself to your cousins. Everyone’s life an

Stop comparing yourself to your cousins. Everyone’s life and circumstances are different. Besides you don’t know the script ahead. Good things do come to those who wait (happened with me). Have faith and trust in God’s plan he has a brilliant future in store for you. God also has a condition that he helps those who help themselves. So quit feeling sorry for yourself and work towards the changes you want to effect in your life.
Hi Human Being! Whatsup?
First of all, try to engage yourself in any day to day activities though you may not feel doing based on your circumstances. I personally know that under such situations as yours, you will not feel doing the very things which you loved before. As for instance, listening to your favorite music, or watching sports or playing games or it can be learning newer skills which you may feel not required at present but demand is there in the market.

Secondly, feel free to divert your mind and read stories of positive people around you or in media. Seek motivation from them. Let me give you one little help, “ Listen to your heart and try to help people in need voluntarily.’ Try not to remain idle as it adds to devils garage! Abstain from developing negativity in thought, i repeat no negativity in thought and feelings because if you lose the grip on that, mind you! you will never feel fully happy or satisfied even if your goal is to get a good government job or a happy family. See people around you and especially those in your family or your hardworking positive friends. Seek inspiration from parents and siblings (if any) and try to get over your negative feelings.
This is most relevant: Develop a habit of writing and make yourself busy. Life is a journey, so sweet at times bitter but you will enjoy it. “ Meet people and never ever think that, they didn’t go though such feelings or situations. People’s thought differ according to their goals and targets. If it is high and need more advancement from them in their efforts, then they will surely feel a bit depressed until they have achieved it.”
Relax! Do not Worry even if you didn’t have targets or goals up-till now but put into efforts to make yourself happy and fulfill some attainable dreams/goals of yours.
Mind You! Everyday and Every second this depressed thoughts will hover around your head freaking you out and you tend to develop mad and bad habits and more importantly “Addictions!” Addictions may be of any type, alcohol, self-pleasing actions (masturbation) or even internet porn. Try not to get indulged in these anti social addictions but make yourself active on other things which will help you in improving yourself and going forward towards being a good human being.
Talk to people and interact with them though you mite feel inferiority complex even when being with your childhood “Well paid jobber” friends. . “Don’t ever allow yourself to stoop too low that even you can’t answer your inner conscience and feel guilty.’ —Never ever compare yourself to your friends or their achievements—-
There ain’t any Third advice!!
Best of Luck My Friend!. God bless.
Regards.
Can I ask you 10reasons why you want to get married or 5 solid reasons atleast?
If you want to get married because you feel lonely and your partner will listen to all your feelings and guide you when you are messed up that may not be true in most of the cases. Even though you are married you what if she don’t understand what you are going though. What if she doesn’t believe in your ideologies? What if you both always have difference in opinion? Discussing your problems with her will be of no use. Though you are married you alone have to deal with your problems.

If you are looking for someone to take care of you when are off from work. This also may not happen most of the times if she’s also a working woman. No one takes care of anyone here. You might end up cooking food and cleaning vessels which is fine but expecting someone else to do those is more to ask for.
If it’s physical needs there are many options now a days. You just have to take care of your health and how you look. Everything else will fall in place.
If you want to get married because you are under parental pressure. That’s the worst thing can ever happen. They feel like they are making your like perfect by getting you married but they are wrong in most of the cases. Most of the times it’s also the case they just want someone else to take care of them as they are old and they are done with house hold chores and now they need entertainment in old age so they need grand kids to play with them. This is the biggest scam don’t fall for it.
After all if you have married then it’s very difficult to get separated in today’s scenarios. On top of it if you have a child you are done for life. Having a child with incompatible partner is the most hardest thing to deal with in life. Marriage is a like a life time contract. If you opt for seperation Indian laws with f**k you up. You might end up all your like time savings as alimony. So just think well before you take decision.
if you ask me being single is best option now a days. Concentrate more on work. Be a productive player at work. Take care of health. Go on solo trips. Meet new people. Make new friends. Just enjoy life.
No one actually fails. We fail to understand the real meaning of life. Life is beautiful and every moment is precious. Try to reflect on yourself. Find out the reasons and start with new things. Fail is giving up. So take challenge and you will enjoy life

Come back and start something new.

Rakshit Soral has a great idea listed previously here. Another field that makes use of your education and interests may be the way to go. I teach technical writing and I know that particular field is full of people whose training is in software, in engineering, in business. Think about something like that.
Ha....Ha....Ha.....you have completed all videos, books, movies...now you are on to social media and quora? Had you focused on geekforgeeks kind interview questions site, you would have hand full of offers by now. You need to work to get something, motivation is required to move on when you are exhausted or complacent. But you seems to have exhausted with motivation. Ha....ha...ha..

Great... But did you fail at something you care about? Do you care about 'software engineering'? If not... you have not failed successfully ... because you tried to succeed in something you didn't really care about in first place. Find something you actually care about to fail at. Seriously.

If you do really care about and love software engineering then your love for software engineering may disappear for some time ... but it would suck you back in so that you can give it another go. DO NOT fight that feeling ... Get sucked in .... knowing fully well that you might fail again .. The next failure (or success) will help you cherish your previous failure. Of course there is a rich history of great outcomes due to failing again and again ... Watch Below:
A lot of this is about the language you are using. You say you have "failed". What exactly does this mean?
Thomas Edison famously said he had not failed to learn how to invent the lightbulb before he finally found a way to invent it (actually his employee, Lewis Latimer, invented the lightbulb but that's another story). He had just found 10,000 ways that did not work. See below for the quote.
It's about the way you see yourself and the way you speak about yourself. To turn this around, think "I have found ways that don't work". You can still find ways that DO work. Go for it!

“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
It's fine to celebrate success but it is more important to heed the lessons of failure.

There are always two sides of a coin, you are only focusing on your negatives. It's time to flip that coin and analyse your positive characteristics.
Moreover you don't have much to lose so go give a shot at things which you have never tried
A good thing about you is that you know what you are bad at,
My advice will be you should just stop finding answers from others and ask yourself
