Can't believe no one mentioned this fruit

Cainito, caimito, star apple, golden leaf tree, abiaba, pomme du lait, estrella, milk fruit and aguay. The fruit has so many names. In Vietnam, we call it milk fruit because a well ripe fruit tastes damn sweet and has a milky texture which is perfect. Funny you have to "massage" it before eating

Elaeagnus latifolia, a kind of berry within the silverberry genus. Can be so sour it gives you lemon face :-) Has a sandy coat that you have to rub off before eating. Children's favorite in Vietnam

Spondias mombin, this fruit has so many names too. Often imported from Thailand into Vietnam. Ripe fruit tastes sweet and sour, more amazing after seasoned with chili powder and salt. Children's favorite in Vietnam

Asian Plum, delicious. Firm and much smaller than plum in US, also more variety. It can be dark-skinned, soft and juicy. It can also be light colored, crunchy and sour :-)

This kind of
pomelo. I don't know if it's available elsewhere outside Vietnam, but this is without a doubt the best fruit. It doesn't have a single hint of bitterness like grapefruit, but super soft and juicy. The skin is brilliantly green, soft, airy and easy to peel. The superfruit has this beautiful pink/red color

Muskmelon, not sure if it's widely available in the US. Muskmelons in Vietnam are served when they're well ripe, super soft. Eaten with sugar or honey

This type of mango we call Thai mango. The ripe fruit has this nice pale yellow color. You can choose to serve when it's ripe or when it's green (seasoned with chili and salt)
