The Lean Startup Circle team (http://www.leanstartupcircle.com/team) in coordination with the LeanCamp team (http://leancamp.co) are organizing the first LeanCamp event in San Francisco on Sunday (Dec. 8th).
LeanCamp is an event which is run in an unconference style aiming to strike the perfect balance between a well-organized event and a community meetup for entrepreneurs.
The appeal of the unconference style has something for everyone - whether you are a novice or an expert.
Novices have the unique opportunity to learn from several experts. Experts at the same time find such an event a good opportunity to share their ideas and best practices with other experts. It also benefits an expert to look at new perspectives from the beginner's eyes of a novice.
Check out our list of speakers who will be participating at Leancamp San Francisco.
Who Should Attend This Event?
If you are serious about running a startup and strongly believe in the lean startup methodology or you feel that you’re taking too long being involved in product management when there must be a clearer way to get customer feedback, then this event is for you.
Future entrepreneurs who are looking to start up their own business, whether in an area of technological expertise or in any new field would greatly benefit from this event.
This is a great forum to talk about ideas you might have for a mobile app or web application and run it past people. It also helps in boosting your motivation and helps you to get the buzz about what’s going on in the industry.
If you are looking to get useful information in early customer development, building an MVP (Minimum Viable Product), deciding on when to pivot and many other lean startup related topics, then this is an event which you should not miss out on.
You can suggest potential topics and can also vote interest for announced sessions. Check out the list of topics on our forum (Leancamp - Session Ideas).
What is the format for the sessions?
There is no mandatory format for the sessions. Usually, we prefer to keep it flexible depending on the participants and the speakers. Based on the past events, we usually conduct sessions in the following manner:
- Show And Tell
If you have done something and would like to share and get feedback, then we do a talk with the help of projectors, whiteboards and flip charts.
- Round Table
We grab a small room for 8-10 people and sit around a table. That's it, that’s all the structure we need!
- Post Up
We use post ups to capture ideas during a session and have each person explain their post-it in a sentence or two, as they place it on the wall.
- Workshop
We are open to any suggestions for conducting workshops on the go.
What Do We Benefit From Your Attendance?
LeanCamp has played a significant role in connecting Lean, Agile and Design practices making their connections more concrete with each approach.
The Lean Startup Circle team has brought together practitioners discussing pragmatic implementations of difficult concepts like continuous deployment, validated learning and Minimum Viable Products.
By the end of each LeanCamp event, almost every participant leaves with a new solution to a current challenge or ongoing problem that they can apply within a week.
This is a positive sign for us and encourages the efforts we put in connecting our panel of speakers with a wide audience.
One can choose to remain stuck at a conceptual level looking to spot an opportunity or get involved in mutually beneficial discussions that are most useful when they happen between real founders and practitioners.

We look forward to the event and welcoming the participants.
