Gravity is an awesome movie.

First off, it isn't at all a science fiction movie, I'd classify it as a dramatic disaster movie rather than anything even vaguely resembling science fiction.

Thus, there is a huge emphasis on space.

Gravity looks phenomenal. No film till date has made space feel so beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

The Alien byline "In space nobody can hear you scream." is even better suited to this movie than it was to Alien itself.

The film has breathtaking earthscapes throughout, and while it make for a shallow review to say they are the star of the film, .

Gravity features great cinematography and direction.

There are sequences which make you feel completely lost in the vast expanse of space ...

... and there are sequences which make you feel claustrophobic.

Both Sandra Bullock and George Clooney do an excellent job at their respective roles.

Between all these factors, Gravity has my vote for the best movie of 2013 so far.
